@David33448367qzet My experience working with Mac is now approaching 20 years ago, so my memory is a bit hazy, but I'm wondering if there might be a file-type setting accessible from File Info that is set incorrectly for these files and that the files aren't actually missing, but you just aren't seeing them becasue they aren't showing the correct icon and file extensions are hidden.

thank you very much for your help! the text are fixed now. Very interesting that the text are changed to "Arabic" when I open this old file in new verison? is that because i never select the Language while I was working on this file last year??
By @Canny_6685
Again, just guessing because I haven't seen your file, but I suspect that with the old version your [Basic Paragraph] style probably specified English, but when installing your new version (which I presume is for Middle East localization) you probably specified an Arabic UI and InDesign automatically set up other defaults to be Arabic.
Most defaults can be changed globally for all new files by making the changes with no files open. This will affect only new files, exisiting files will need to be fixed one at a time.

This is a wild guess, but check the language settings assigned to that text. I suspect there's a left-to-right right-to-left mixup here.

@Dave Creamer of IDEAS Not sure what you are asking about here. If you are asking about my question of first word vs first letter, it matters only in whether one is applying the style to the first letter or the first word and it's simply a matter of clarification.
That said, if its just the first letter there are a number of ways to handle this without the need for a nested style. First and formost would be to simply type the text with an initial capital. But another way is simply to select all the text and go to Type > Change Case > Sentence case and it's done.
If you were asking about my saying it's about an ingredients list, well I think talking about drop caps just muddies the waters. Yes, Nested Styles are assigned in the same dialog as drop caps, but none of you has pointed out that actual drop caps would be irrelevant to the list. Further, based on your example, I thought you might have missed that we weren't dealing with body copy here.
No intention on my part to dis anyone here. It's just that @hendy_5450 seems to be having a lot of trouble with what seems like pretty basic usage, and I think it would be best to try to keep things as simple and direct as possible.

Hey folks...
@hendy_5450 is talking about an ingredients list here, not body copy. ;7)

Changing language for [Basic Paragraph] would probably be appropriate in this case, especially if any other style is based on it. And as I read the question, the OP wants to change the language to Spanish rather than Polish so that would be another change the should make in your code.

Did you want the whole word, or just the first letter? There's a conflict between the topic title and what you asked.
I'm quite sure you don't mean Drop Caps, but if you want the entire first word you would do that either with a nested style or by keying the text that way.

@agile_mist15540 I downloaded your files and ran some tests in 2025 and CS6 using a range of 10 records. In both versions I got three copies (or more) of each record when merging multiple records per page.
I copied the template elements into a new file and re-ran the test in both versions and got the expected results of 1 copy of each of the ten records on the page.
This confirms the file corruption I described that is caused by using preview. You need to make a new template.

@Willi Adelberger It's a line, not a rectangle -- the transform prox shows only three points, center and two ends.
@Bea! You misunderstand what the angle field is showing. It shows the amount of rotation applied when you make a change rather than the angle at which it was drawn relative to the x or y axis. To constrain the line to horizontal, vertical, or a 45 degree slope hold down the shift key as you draw.

I would certainly defer to your French, but that doesn't change the fact that there is no official site of any sort dedicated to CS2.
Best bet, as you have asked, is to post the question here as many of us have experience going back that far.

Brad @ Roaring Mouse You might want to take a look at the PDF file posted by @tiffanykustwan11 .
There seems to me to be something really odd about the main font. Document properties list Montseratt-Thin and Montseratt-ThinItalic fasces, but no bold version, and some of the type is clearly bolder than that surrounding it, yet has exactly the same properties when selected as the accompanying body text.
You clearly know more than I about this.

Unfortunately not, at least not to all Anchored TFs - first on the page have extra index after ":".
So either two ParaStyles or one "universal".

Depends on how you want the first one to line up in relation to the others. If they ALL should right align on the last digit, then only one is needed.

I downloaded your PDF, used the multipage importer script to place it into a new file, set the bleed for .125 top, bottom and outside, and added a 3/8in slug to hold your marks. I cropped off the parts of the PDFs that were overlapping at the inside gutter.
I then ran Daves Buildbooklet.js script to create the readers spreads and exported the new file as spreads to PDF/X-4 including the slug area.
Took only a few minutes.

If all your text frames that hold the numbers are the same width and have the same offset position horizontally from the anchor point at the start of the verse, all you need to do is set the paragraphs to right align.

A path where you CAN save is not what we need. Wha't the full path to the folder where you want to save but cannot? Or have I been misunderstanding and you really do want it in Documents on the local drive?
In any case, if this is Windows 11, there are a lot of problems reported by folks who installed a recent update. I can't seem to find the bookmark to the discussion that I thought I had saved. Anyone else?

The project also REQUIRES the use of BookMan OldStyle which is no longer supported or some BS I dunno but I am REQUIRED to use InDesign so I am really starting to get upset. This project is due soon and I have to maitain the guidlines the company gives me.
By @NikitEngel
This sounds like you've come up against the discontinuation of support for Postscript fonts. YOu should be able to obtain an OpenType version of whichever weights/styles you need from any number of reliable font vendors (avoid the free font sites). If your custom fonts were also saved as Postscript fonts that would explain why they are gone and you'll have to have them re-saved as OpenType or TrueType by whoevever made the for you originally.

It looks to me like you mean aligning the numbers on the horizontal axis as they read down the column.
Your text frames should all be the same width and you can set a text alignment as part of the paragraph style assigned to the numbers.

Thanks.
I'm guessing that you're not really getting 100% of the fonts, but rather 100% of the embedded subsets which should be sufficient if what you describe is corect. And that's really interesting.

Exactly.
I'm also waiting for a response to my questions about bleed, creep and signatures. If these are short enough to saddle stitch one of Dav's free scripts should handle the imposition and then that imposed file could be exported as a test instead of using Print Booklet.

I tried it first with photoshop open, and then again with it closed. With it closed I got the two error messages @dublove mentioned, but photoshop did then open and opened my image.
I suspect there is a problem with how you are writing the path to Photoshop. You need to escape the \s in the path statement in the script by adding a second \ for each and make sure everything is spelled correctly -- I see you've left off the last p in photoshop.exe above.

I believe that's correct.
But again, I see this as being truly useful only for files the user is creating themselves. I don't see how in many cased it can "fix" and imported PDF with subsets. I really would like to hear an explanation of why I'm wrong because that's a really simple procedure if it works.

I believe Acrobat Pro's Preflight can merge same-font subsets, but perhaps the simpliest solution is to open the supplied PDF in Acrobat Pro, outline it's fonts, then place it in the master PDF.
By @Dave Creamer of IDEAS
I'd like to know that there's also a problem if the file is exported to PDF rather than printed before recommending the outlining of fonts.
