Please advise on reasonable hardware set up for desktop. looking at i5 10th gen with nvidia 1660ti and 16gb Ram; also looking at i7 9700 with nvidia 2070 super and 32 gb ram.
please advise if the first one will get the job done, just slower.
also, opinions about Dell?
do the nvidia 2070 and 2060 and 2080 have big differences, in performance, and do they " color" things that change what is in the original video files? thank you

Both the 10th-Generation i5 and the older 9th-Generation i7 are roughly equal to one another in terms of CPU performance. This is because the older i7 has 8 cores but no hyperthreading, so only 8 threads. The 10th-Generatrion i5, like its 8th- and 9th-Generation predecessors, have 6 cores - but unlike the older desktop i5's, the 10th-Gen has hyperthreading, so 12 threads.
If you gan get in a newer 10th-Generation i7-10700 in that second machine for not much more money than the older i7 CPU, then the second machine would be the better choice. The first one, the slower and weaker GPU is bad enough, but the bigger problem is the low amount of RAM for such a configuration.

If you want to edit 4K (Pro Res, BRAW, R3D H,264) at full resolution an 8 core CPU with hyperthreading would be entry level. You do not want your CPU maxed at 100%. An RTX 2060 would work but if you can get an RTX 2070 super it would be money well spent. The video link below might be worth watching.

please note have new computer major specs, but issues with PP performance and see other posts as related to gpu. stalls when going through or linking clips and assets. cannot scroll through imported clips without delays and dragging and stalling. all works better on old w 7. seems related to gpu 2080 ti per other posts
