Hello all!
I'm looking for a new desktop setup on a budget.
I make comics. My pages are usually around 3000x5000px.
I don't use filters but I use liquify a lot.
And various color layers and many, many layers in my work
I also use wacom cintiq 13hd.
My current desktop yields awful results. It's slow, PS crashes sometimes and I loose cintiq connection constantly.
I think this is mostly due to low ram.
My current rig is:
Intel Core2duo 2.5ghz
4gm RAM
Ge force 9600gt
What kind of rig would you recommend for my work?
Is it necessary to go i-5?
Thank you!

Can you confirm what software you are using to make your comics?

Thank you Bill.
I checked out the thread. And it kind of just raised additional questions (folks contradicting each other).
It boiled down to the, the better your machine is, PS will preform faster, which is well, a moo point.
Speed is the least of my problems. My main issues are small glitches that greatly hamper my work flow.
Like when my wacom stops responding. I have too turn of PS, restart the drivers and then continue.
When this happens five time within 20 minutes... well it's a drag.
Also my PS sometimes crashes due to low ram
I've tried working on a better computer (i-5, great gpu, 8gb ram) and my wacom preformed flawlessly.
But that rig is expensive for me right now. So my main question is, is a budget desktop (i-3, 8gb ram, decent gpu) good enough for comic drawing on wacom cintiq.
