Impending end of driver support and updates for all Nvidia 10-series and earlier GPUs

Nvidia has announced, or will soon announce, that all remaining pre-Turing (this means all pre-RTX-generation) GeForce and Quadro GPUs will become depreciated to legacy driver support status after the release of the forthcoming version 580 branch of the Nvidia graphics drivers. All remaining GeForce 700-series (GTX 745, GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti), GeForce 800M and Quadro K-series (K620, K1200 and K2200) GPUs, plus all GeForce 900- and 10-series, GeForce MX 110, MX 130, MX 150, MX 230, MX 250, MX 330 and MX 350, the Titan X, Titan X (Pascal), Titan Xp and Titan V, and the Quadro M-, P- and V-series GPUS–all based on the Maxwell, Pascal or Volta architecture– will be affected. The GeForce 16-series GPUs and the professional T-series GPUs will not be affected as those two series are derived from the RTX 20-series/Quadro RTX series (Turing architecture) GPU line, and will therefore continue to be supported in the drivers above the 580 branch for the foreseeable future.

As a result of this, the forthcoming version 26 of Premiere Pro will likely be the last major version of Premiere Pro to support the above older legacy Nvidia GPUs. Version 27, due out in Fall 2026, will likely require a Turing or newer architecture in order to use CUDA acceleration.

Update:

The official announcement came two days ago with the release of version 580.88 of the Game Ready GPU driver (a Studio Driver will follow shortly). Feature updates for the above-mentioned legacy GeForce GPUs will continue until this coming October; afterwards, these GPUs will transition to a quarterly security-only-update schedule for another three years. Quadro and workstation GPUs have not yet had a 580 branch driver release, but they will continue to be supported with updates to that driver branch for at least two years once that forthcoming driver branch is released.

In a related development, updates for Windows 10 in the Nvidia mainline drivers will continue until October 2026. As a consequence, Premiere Pro 26 will likely become the last major version of Premiere Pro to support Windows 10.

Update #2:

The first 580-branch driver for Quadro and RTX PRO GPUs in the Production Branch was released the Monday following the GeForce Game Ready Driver (August 4), with the same version number 580.88. This was followed eight days later (today, August 12) with the release of version 580.97 Game Ready and Studio Drivers for GeForce GPUs and the 580.97 Production Branch Driver for Quadro/RTX PRO GPUs.

Update #3:

Nvidia just recently posted a support plan for the Quadro workstation cards utilizing the Maxwell, Pascal and Volta architectures:

As I noted in the first post, driver branch 580 is the last one to support these older Quadro GPUs. However, updates to the 580 branch of the Enterprise driver for these GPUs will continue until the end of July 2026, after which support will transition to a security-only-update cycle.
