Laptop needs for Premier Pro

My Macbook Pro has just given up the fight after only 4 years.  I am conisdering going back to a windows laptop.  I own the full CS 4.0 suite for windows that was not compatible with my Mac computer so i used CS on my mac.  I will be using my older CS Adobe Suite but might upgrade to using the upgraded subscription Suite later.

I am considering a 14" 2 in 1 laptop that has an integrated GPU.  The larger computers can be had with discrete GPUs.  How much would a laptop lacking a better GPU suffer when processing Premier Pro files?

If you plan to upgrade you need to think ahead otherwise you will be stuck with a comp that is not going to preform well.

It also depends on what kind of footage you are going to edit.

Does the spec

"4  GB of GPU VRAM"

Automatically mean a discrete GPU?  Or would high end integrated graphics card with 16B of Ram suffice?  My macbook pro did pretty well with my past needs althogh was slow to produce some longer slide shows.

As Ann has indicated, that laptop may run CS4 OK, but it won't likely run CC, and if it does, it won't be a happy editing experience.

Also, a UHD display on a 14 inch laptop may result in a really hard to read user interface.

Searching the recommended GPUs it looks like some high end embedded graphics are suggested as working with Premier.  I will look for one that has these embedded graphics or an approved discrete GPU.

I was hoping for a light weight low profile laptop.  It appears even the very few that have discrete GPUs in the batch of laptops I am looking at don't have a significant enough model to meet the recommendations.  Very little of my time is spent on Premier but when i have in the past I really enjoyed it much more with my mac compared to previous use with the cheaper laptops of the past.

Maybe compromise on a laptop and build or update my PC for Premier use.  Even though my MB pro did okay with the processing, working on a 15" screen sucked.

Unfortunately, you might be stuck in no-man's land:

Premiere Pro CS4 may not run properly, if at all, on any newer version of Windows such as the current version 1909 build of Windows 10.

Secondly, CS4 was the very last version of Premiere Pro that's strictly 32-bit. As such, that software might not even be able to take full advantage of even a 13-year-old Core 2 Duo, let alone a modern i7. In fact, it might actually crash and/or error out much more frequently on newer systems. And this is because CS4 actually predates even Windows 7, let alone Windows 10 (having been released when the newest version of Windows was Windows Vista).

After all, who would want to actually run 11-year-old video editing software on a current-generation system anyway?

Thanks for the heads up on my potential compatibility issues.  It looks like my macbook is repaired and on my way back to me, it has CS6 on it.  I only use Premier Pro a couple times a year, so not worth paying for the CC version.  I am thinking of reviving my 10 year old desktop with windows 7 for my needs.  Maybe upgrade the Mobo, Ram, CPU, and dual boot it.  My primary use creatively is Lightroom, in which I do about 98% of my work.
