Hey guys,
two fantastic new CPU will be released soon. I am build a new 4K video editing system. Native and flawless timeline preview and performance is key to me. What would you recommand?
Will 16 core with less GHz of the 3950X beat the 5.0GHz with 8 cores and iGPU of the 9900KS?
Thanks, Alex

Premiere Pro can not take full advantage of 16 cores with hyperthreading at present.

Thank you. Every other software can do this today 😞
Still, would rather a 9900KS with less cores and high clocks make sense or a 3900x or 3950x? What is most important for smooth playback? Where is the sweet spot? And how important is iGPU?

You're not going to edit 4K on an iGPU. The only use for the iGPU in this scenario is QuickSync hardware encoding, which often looks worse.
Spend less money on the processor and instead pick up an RTX 2060.

What does the iGPU does then? Would it helps on encoding and having a smooth playback. When does the Nvidia gpu work and when the iGPU?
So does the 3900x works better for playback even on codec like h265? I am using a gtx 1080 in that system.

If you use anything outside Adobe like Davinci Resolve or Magix Vegas pro then 3900x or future 3950x is faster and by a lot, in Adobe's world AMD doesn't exist, you have to stick with Intel even if you hate high prices, you have no choice.
