I've never had to customize the NVIDIA settings.

In fact, I don't even have GeForce Experience installed.

 

I always choose a custom installation of the Studio Driver and choose a clean installation.

That setting is for laptops with dual graphics, to avoid conflicts between the two GPUs. For a desktop machine with a single dedicated GPU it's basically irrelevant.

 

As Peru Bob says. Leave everything as it is. Just clean install the Studio driver and skip GeForce Experience, and you'll be fine.

I know at least one setting - to prefer maximum performance. And I always use it.
