What sound card/USB are you using for Surround Sound?

Okay, I'm pretty stymied. Haven't needed to do surround sound for over a year, now I need it. The last couple of updates to Windows and to Premiere CC appear to have broken the SoundBlaster X-Fi which previously had worked fine for several years in a 5.1 setup. Adobe no longer provides any recommendations other than ASIO. Saw someone who said they were having luck with an Audigy FX, so got one of those, no dice at all. So I got an USB device from StarTech, also no dice. I cannot find any posts from anybody recently having good results with a specific sound card. SOOOO -- are you doing 5.1 sound successfully on your Windows 10 machine with Premiere Pro CC 12.1.2 or 13.1.2? If so, WHAT IS THE CARD?????????

Just to add info -- I tried ASIO4ALL and it crashes Premiere CC 12.1.2 as soon as it is invoked. Besides, it's a cheat, this really should work!

I'm working with Asio4all's process in 13.x without trouble.

What sound card are you working with using ASIO4ALL?

I don't have one. Just the base Asus mobo stuff. And using the ability of the mobo to remap extra back audio connections to output sound channels to receiver's 6 channel inputs.

Just tested again clean setup of ASIO4ALL with external USB sound card on 13.1.2 and Premiere has a hard crash as soon as ASIO4ALL is invoked. I am using Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K as video display, updated all the drivers, no change. It seems to me that there ought to be a bunch of folks able to respond "Sure, I'm using the Turkey Mountain Whatsit card with ASIO and it works great" except I'm not finding on web search any recent stories of success. Baffling.

I do know that people are getting 5 1 out of both Premiere and Audition. Jarle Leirpoll's book "The Cool Stuff in Premiere Pro" has a section on this.

It does take learning how the apps can be worked which can be frustrating as it's not obviously published information.
