Hey! I'm looking to buy a laptop for editing in premiere pro. What should I favour between these two options:
option 1
Processor: i7-9750H 9th generation Intel® Core™
graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 6GB
RAM: 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2666
option 2
Processor: i7-8750H 8ª Geração Intel® Core™
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 MAX-Q 8GB
RAM: 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2666
What kind of editing will you be doing? What kind of footage and resolution will you be working on? Option 1 has a newer processor which is faster than option 2's, but the other laptop has a better GPU. Will you be working with large frame sizes that require lots of GPU decoding? It not then option 1 might be better because the RTX 2060 is still a very powerful card. Both processors are close in specs and the clock speed boost from the 8th gen to the 9th gen isn't a huge difference, but it reall

Both processors are close in specs and the clock speed boost from the 8th gen to the 9th gen isn't a huge difference, but it really depends what kind of work you do and what you plan on doing in the future too. Do you do any After Effects work? If so, AE will favor the newer, faster CPU over the more powerful GPU.

Hello David, thank you for your answer! I'll be working mainly with 1080p files, out of the Lumix G7. Possibly also out of the Gh4 or the Gh5. I almost have no need for creating things in After Effects.
Since I'm also doing some shorts I might have to deal with footage out of a Blackmagic, FS7 or others. However this is higly variable and not the main thing.
I can save about 200/300 EUR with the first spec. But I was doubtful on going for CPU or GPU... At the moment I'm editing with this one:
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
Would like to edit a little more smoothly since this laptop is 5 years old
I think I'll go with option 1,
