This post applies to Camera Raw.
Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Ecosystem feedback can be found here.
Previous Early Access Feedback can be found here.

Generative Remove makes it easier to remove unwanted objects and distractions with a simple gesture, even on complex backgrounds. For more accurate results, be sure to include the object's shadow in your selection and/or expand its size.

Detect Objects uses AI to find the objects underneath a brushed area. The masked areas will now appear larger than the Early Access version of this feature. You can also circle objects for quicker selection now.

We have also updated the spot selection experience to make it easier to manage variations, switch the fill type, refine the selection area, or re-generate as needed.

Batch updating is also now supported for Generative Remove spots.

As Generative AI analyzes portions of the image that have been cropped out, Camera Raw has the ability to toggle Show Uncropped Image is now available to guide you in your Generative Remove selection.

Try out the latest updates and share your feedback with us here. Please also include the following details in your post:
  • App version
  • System details
  • Example image(s) if you wish to share

Our team continually monitors this thread to track issues for future improvement. Thanks!

Generative AI feature not working – selected area that I wanted to remove but it doesn’t make the edit

I’ve found the remove tool extremely useful when using add or subtract. Today I removed a van from from a photo’ I’d taken and I was impressed by the way the window that was partially hidden by the van was completely rebuilt as was the fence and items behind, I’ve had a few “minor “ issues with clouds but nothing that couldn’t be rectified.

suddenly the generative AI is not working in camera raw. it was working yesterday. didn’t do anything different. went back to work today and it’s not working. Camera raw already corrupted several of my files which I had to reload from my camera. All that work erased. Not very good. figure it out before you send it out to the universe

Might just be me, but the remove tool is not effective and often unusable while using Camera RAW in Bridge. Almost every time, I need to fly my image out to Photoshop, use the Remove Tool in Photoshop, then save as a copy and return to Bridge to complete the edit.

Help me understand: is the remove tool in Camera RAW different than the Remove Tool in Ps? Thank you

Works good in most times but removing license plates (numbers) proves to be difficult every time. Would be nice to teach the AI this.

I have macbook 2019 with Ventura. The remove tool GAI  in camera raw 17 works fairly well, but all major removing must be done prior to any color or light adjustments. If remove is done after color adjustments it does not color correct properly. Also for some reason CR 17 is missing the distraction segment therefore no AI dust removal. I cannot update to CR18 because I have PSE 2025.

I’m very impressed with the remove tool, I’ve used it add & subtract and have found it a very useful tool even when it’s a very complex removal

It seems to me that AI itself is causing most of the issues and i rarely use it - it would be extremely nice to just have a setting that disables AI completely so that it doesn’t run in the background. Right now it just seems to interfere without any use and my MacBook Pro doesn’t seem to be very fond of it. I don’t need it for 99% of my work and like people here said before: it just slows things down without any benefit.

For some reason, since I updated the Camera Raw, when I select a mask to remove something with the Generative AI, everything is paused and when is back again the mask is a straight line! I use it on 2 mini macs and this is happening to both.

It’s even worse: it freezes and “uses AI tool” (it lists it in the AI Status List) even if I want to remove something WITHOUT AI or just want to mask something manually.
