There is a program called MathType that can only use a couple fonts for its greek symbols. It can't find the greek symbols in the Minion font, even though they are there.Would it be possible to create a new font and just map the Minon greek symbols to the "regular" locations (i.e. alpha would go in the "a" position)? That way MathType might work?
Hi everyone,I'm having a problem implementing OpenType features in web fonts. No matter what typeface or browser I use—and I've tried several of each—I can't get the CSS font-face property to listen to font-variant:small-caps. In every case, the browser synthesizes its own small caps by scaling the full caps, which of course looks terrible. The typefaces I've tried with this are all open-source advanced fonts: Cabin, Cardo, Lato, and Sorts Mill Goudy, all of which support small caps at least in their roman, regular-weight face. I've used Firefox 5, Opera 11.5, and the latest build of Iron (Chrome without Big Brother), all to no avail. It's worth mentioning that other properties of advanced web typography, such as automatic ligatures (as well as the font-face property itself), are all working. You can see my test page at http://www.utcolmus.org/test.html , and the CSS file at http://www.utcolmus.org/main.css. Any help would be gre

Hi there,I'm on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8still on Adobe CS4, i initially had problems getting CS4 to see my installed fonts when upgraded to Snow Lepoard, googled the problem, tried several different things for hours - something worked not sure what exactly but CS4 started seeing all of my installed fonts. Now all of a sudden, they are not showing up again, i have not downloaded anything, installed anything, moved anything - were all there and working last week, and then this week they are not.I have 1060 fonts installed - work for an agency with hundreds of different clients so need a lot of fonts. Am not using any font manager - just fontbook, is that the issue? all 1060 fonts are showing up as installed in Fontbook....I have some fonts in HD>library>fonts, and also fonts in user>library>fonts, could this be the issue? is it best to have them in just one place? if so which folder is best to have all fonts in?I know indesign has its own font folder - which is now wh
HiI'm designing Christmas cards (I know its July!) for a relative who runs a local branch of "Citizens Advice Bureau" and I need help identifying the font the logo uses. Here is a highish res image of the logo: http://www.southwarkadvice.org.uk/images/CABlogo2.jpg Any ideas?Adam
Seriously, can nobody figure out how to make IND highlight text ie word-style? I have 700 different body text figure references, 70 different authors with varying ages and eyesight and bold/italic just doesn't cut it. How hard can this be?
I'm trying to get hold of a font that is similar to the Linotype Helvetica World font. I need a font that has very similar characteristics of the Helvetica World font, as well as all the special characters. Does Adobe make, or have access to a font like this?
My client gave me a bunch of vector graphics that a different agency gave them for a font that they use for money amounts in their new branding. They gave me vector graphics 0-9, a "$", a "." and a ",".I've already tried to find out what the actual font is but I've had no success. My next option is to convert the vectors into a new font.So now I need to find a program to do the conversion. What programs work best based on your experience.Thx in advance for your suggestions.Zak.
I'm trying to identify this font and, so far, I'm stumped to what it may be.If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.TIA,DaleP.S. If it ends up being a very simple or common font, I apologize in advance for a newbie question.
Hello,Which are the fonts that CS4/5 installs that are required for those apps to run happily and where are they located? Thanks
Most examples I've come across range between 7-8pt. Whereas my client insists he had never seen anything less than 9pt+. I would love to get some feedback on this.
Presently using Adobe Font Folio 11. What font is closest to the Janson font? Thx qmpc
In my application I receive UTF-8 encoded text strings. The text includes Western European, Eastern European, Cyrillic, and Greek characters. CJK support is not needed. I then need to display it using a Type 1 font that contains all of the needed glyphs (580+ glyphs).I would like to be able to use the show, stringwidth, ... operators with the UTF-8 encoded text.Is there a way to build a UTF-8 compatible font using a Type 1 font as its base font. composefont? Other method?I would greatly appreciate it you would point me to some concrete examples of how to do this. I am pretty new to UTF-8 and CIDFont/CMap/composefont stuff. Thanks for your help, Lee
I was offered the new Hypatia Sans Pro font as free gift with a recent CS4/5 suite upgrade. The font set does not include the six italic fonts, which are now available separately for $55. On checking the package readme file I see that the font set is now at version 2.016 (circa 2010/01/12), but the font set I was offered for free download is version 1.009 (2008/02/25. My question is 1) should I have been offered the available 2.016 version font set (with or without Italic fonts)? I was ready to purchase the Italic set for $55, but concerned there may be visible differences between the v1.009 Roman font set I have now and the newer 2.016 Italic set.Any suggestions or ideas? I feel Adobe owes me at least a complete v2.016 font set for my $55, given it was available at the time of the “free gift” offer.Revision History - Post v1.009For all fonts of family Hypatia Sans Pro: version 2.016 created on Tue Jan 12 15:33:34 2010.version 2.016 created 2010/01/12Fixed f-ligature cross bars in all
Does anyone know what font this is? None of the What Font is This kind of sites could pick it up. Thanks so much!
I'm building a flash app that has a lot of dynamic content so I need this font so I don't have to replace each number with a vector graphic. The client doesn't have the actual font and they do not know what it is.Hopefully you can see this link - http://i.imgur.com/cLrca.jpgThanks in advance for you help.Zak
Assuming the Font supports them and the right character pair is typed in? Such as FF, FT.I'm using Garamond Pro family, but there are others in which I'd like to form ligatures.(in other words, does this require keyboard input?)
If I have a paragraph of type, ranged left (example below) set out with no widows/orphans etc but I have a word starting on its own, what is the correct way to solve this? Start a new paragraph or leave it on its own? Sometime when i do this I get a lot of space that looks wrong.example:...for example researcher, recorder. Theybuild the table...Hope this makes sense.thanks in advance
Being self taught in InDesign (CS 5.5 now)- I may be missing something basic here- but pride went out the window at the 30 minutes wasted mark...In the feature card pictured, I need the item description to kick down to the next line at the 3" mark, while the prices all right align as shown at about the 3.4" mark. Because the descriptions change frequently, I'd rather not make the adjustments manually to each item. I work with a lot of different (printed) restaurant menus, and this problem has became a recurring theme. Any help would be apprectiated.
Hello,I have a few questions concerning the EULA of Adobe fonts and fonts in general. Is it allowed to use Adobe fonts in the font-family property in CSS? As it depends on the user's installed font types, there would not be any distribution or copying of font files. Is it necessary to buy a license from Adobe to use the fonts in this way? Is it also possible to use them on commercial websites and in commercial web applications/products?Thank you in advance for your help.
when i export the text after creating the effect i was looking for and insert it into dreamweaver it has a box around the text and covers up part of t he background how do i import the text image and not cover up any of the back ground.
Hi, I am working on a new document and considering some options for the fonts. The document is a guideline to legislation, so I want the look and feel to contrast the actual legislative text. The guidelines are there to support reader, help to guide them through the legal requirements in a clear and concise manner. I want to make sure that the document is approachable and easy to read. It is unlikely that a reader will read from cover to cover. They are more likely to dip in and read certain sections. In previous guidelines we have used Myriad Pro or Verdana for body text and Hypatia Sans for heads. However on this occasion I am considering a serif font for the body, like Warnock or Garamond. While these fonts help make the document more readable, I am concerned that this may make the guideline appear more serious and less approachable. So, sans serif OR serif for this type of document. I would be grateful for suggestions. Thanks,Niall
Perhaps someone here can verify (or not) a problem we're seeing with an Adobe font. The font is ITC Franklin Gothic Std Book. This is from the Adobe Font Folio 9, so the version number is 1.047;PS 001.003;Core 1.0.38;makeotf.lib1.6.5960In InDesign and Illustrator CS3, when we type a Registered Sign followed by a Right Double Quotation Mark, the spacing between the two is several times wider than between the Left Double Quotation Mark followed by a Registered Sign. (Photoshop CS3 doesn't show this problem, but it has a different type engine than the others.)The two characters are:Name: REGISTERED SIGNGID: 161Unicode: 00AEName: RIGHT DOUBLE QUOTATION MARKGID: 117Unicode: 201DWe're also seeing the same odd spacing in the Demi weight of the typeface.
I inadvertently installed the Arial MT fonts - Regular, Bold, Italic etc recently. However, all my Flash files started replacing the standard Arial font in the text fields with Arial MT; and every time I tried to change them back to standard it always switches immediately back to Arial MT.I thought that removing these fonts from my Windows/Fonts folder would fix this issue, but no! I can see that the Arial MT font files are all gone from the Windows/Fonts folder (I even used the AMP Font Viewer to double-check) - but unfortunately, when I went back to my fla files the Arial MT is still there and it still won't let me go back to standard. This is driving me potty, as those MT fonts are pretty horrible. It's almost like a virus!! (Yes, I have checked for viruses, btw) Any ideas anyone? Would be very grateful! My OS is Windows Vista and I'm running CS5.
