Video Hardware

Hey all, so I am trying to find a solid performer for a storage drive... I originally went with a 6tb WD Black and returned two of them because of head parking issues and extreme heat... Looked up quite a lot of issues for these drives, and it basically killed my confidence in them... So, what would any of you recommend as a good alternative... I would prefer a 7200 rpm, larger cache, quiet, but most importantly, reliable..

My computer does not seem to be much of an improvement from my 5k IMAC. Here is my current specs I am curious if there is something wrong with my build. I am trying to work with 6-8k R3D files.

I'm driving myself absolutely nuts going over the options for this. I'm looking for the best way to upgrade my current drive setup for Premiere. Hi Currently I have a laptop that just barely runs premiere pro, it can edit videos however I have to wait quite a long time for it to show in the preview screen. I also have some lag.So my first question is, this summer I will probably be getting a new laptop, but I don't have a very large budget so I was wondering, what is the most budget computer, it can be a desktop or laptop, that I can buy that will run premiere pro well enough that everything functions properly and without lag?and until I get this new computer, is there anything I can do to make my premiere run faster on my current laptop?Thanks!

hi i work in tv station i mainly use adobe premiere 2017 for video making and all the powerful tools and the render takes timebut sometimes i work on final cut pro x and it's much faster sometimes go up to x20 time fasterthat is crazyi found myself for the past 2 months working only in final cut  and take all the time that i normal do render and put it for work on the projectswhy cant adobe make adobe premiere render faster than final cut or at least the same speed ?![Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum]

When rendering a 30 minute Interview it would take about 1 hour. On this computer showing 5 hours. Hi everyone,I being working for many years with premiere, I have a MacPro 5,1 2.4Ghz Quad-Core intel xeon 24Gb RAM with Nvidia 680GTX, internal SDD raids.Everything was amazing until last update. I used to edit HD & 4k with AE dynamic links. Couldn't be happier. but now playback is freezing and can't export using cuda anymore it gives a memory error.I'm not blaming adobe for this, I understand my system is outdated. my computer is 7 years old.my question is:should I tried with a new nvidia card and add some Ram memory to my mac? would it make it any good?or I really need to spend a lot of money buying a powerful PC from puget system or HP workstations? Hello. I'm Will and its amateur hour. Please bare with my juvenile questions. My current specs are 3.4ghz quad core intel i7, 24gb ram, dedicated SSD for video and one for programs, and my newest addition a GTX1060(can still be exchanged for a 1070 or 1080). I'm getting a ton of lag and long renders editing music videos and skits in premier even before effects or basic coloring. I do use a ton of clips and a lot of split screen action, and resizing. Would I be best served getting the GTX1070, upgrading the CPU, or just getting some more ram? My specs are already pretty rockin so my workflow is def the main problem probably. Any pointers on that end are welcome. I've looked into proxies but IDK if I have the patience or even have the direction to do that to 50+ clips per session. O, and when I say 4k it's kind of a joke. I have 2 video cards, Intel 4600, with 1.76GB RAM, and Nvidia K3100m, with 4GB of RAM.  I've been using PP 2015 all this time because I can't get GPU acceleration.  I wondered if it had to do with the 2 cards.  I wonder if my Intel card is primary, and that is why the GPU acceleration isn't working.  I saw something posted about GPU-Z, and I might give that a go, before spending more money on a graphics card.  I need to step up into 2017.  Any thoughts?[Moderator note: moved to best forum]

So, at the risk of driving myself and others mad, here is yet another request for system suggestions...I recently shipped my iMac from Canada to Europe and United Postal Service destroyed it during transit. I followed some online build guides with the intent of editing 4K videos. Earlier this week I just bought two new SSDs and put them into my system thinking this would solve the problem. I've got my OS and software coming off one SSD and I've got my footage coming off another. Then I've got my scratch disks and cache coming off a non SSD drive. I'm looking at a new PC, and have a limited budget.  Current one (a 2012 intel i5) is plaguing me with choppy, stuttering editing issues especially with 3 camera multicam edits.  I'm typically using 1080p H.264 format.  I've tried using proxies but that's not much help so I've decided to step up to a newer pc and likely a RAID drive system eventually (likely a RAID 10).I've seen a PC for $1000 equipped as follows: I-7 7700k (seventh gen) quad core 3.6ghz with 24 GB ram, a 256gb ssd + 1tb 7200 hd, 8gb AMD Radeon RX480 graphics card.  Has 2-USB 3.1 (that's one c-type and one a-type) plus two hdmi ports. We are a small agency with 4 Mac Book Pro workstations running Adobe CC. The machines are mid-2012 15" Retina machines running El Cap and have max ram installed. We are doing more and more projects in Premier Pro and After Effects and are looking to optimize the machines and Adobe CC versions to best work in our environment. Our latest issue occurs when trying to render in After Effects using the CC Media Encoder. We are getting error code 1609629695. In doing online searches for this problem, a host of solutions presented themselves which we are pursuing to see if any actually fix this issue. Several of the thread speak to recent updates causing problems and the solution being to revert to older versions. My question: Is there a list of CC versions, driver versions, etc that we should not upgrade beyond given our hardware limitations? And to follow that, are there best practices when it comes to settings in the Mac OS and/or withing Premier and After Effects that maximize use of our h

VideoPad is slow at rendering previews when I edit, and buffers too often, will Premiere Pro be better?  I think maybe videoPad doesn't make much use of the gpu. I have intel i7 6700 and 32 gm of Ram. My graphics card is nvidia geforce gtx 750 Ti, do you think a better one would help me quite a lot?  Also I do not have SSD.  Which graphics card would you recommend if I upgrade, I think my friend found one that was rated well for 200 or 300$, I forgot the name of it.  I am not really looking to do 4k editing for now, my dslr doesn't do 4k anyway.Thank you very much for the help.- Peter
