I have looked through many of the threads here, but haven't been able to find the answers I'm looking for. So, at the risk of driving myself and others mad, here is yet another request for system suggestions...I recently shipped my iMac from Canada to Europe and United Postal Service destroyed it during transit. The insurance will give me about $2000 CAD (about $1300 USD or Euro) and I'm looking to replace the iMac with a Windows machine because my understanding is that I might get the same horsepower as the iMac by buying or building a windows machine. I've never built a computer and I'm not totally interested in trying now, however I would if it was easy for a beginner and cheaper. I was not running a beast by any means, clearly. I followed some online build guides with the intent of editing 4K videos. Earlier this week I just bought two new SSDs and put them into my system thinking this would solve the problem. I've got my OS and software coming off one SSD and I've got my footage coming off another. Then I've got my scratch disks and cache coming off a non SSD drive. I have a CPU with a PCI Express 8x slot. I intend to buy a videocard to use with Premiere and After Effects. I already know the video card list specified in the Premiere minimum requiremen.  Can anybody tell me if there is any  os this card available in the PCI Express 8x format? Thanks in advance. Hello everybody.I need to upgrade my laptop, which is of course far from the ideal configuration for video editing.infact this is my mobility laptop which I usually use at home for small projects which doesn't involve heavy loads, FX, and so on.In my studio I already have a workstation to do the hard work. I'm looking at a new PC, and have a limited budget.  Current one (a 2012 intel i5) is plaguing me with choppy, stuttering editing issues especially with 3 camera multicam edits.  I'm typically using 1080p H.264 format.  I've tried using proxies but that's not much help so I've decided to step up to a newer pc and likely a RAID drive system eventually (likely a RAID 10).I've seen a PC for $1000 equipped as follows: I-7 7700k (seventh gen) quad core 3.6ghz with 24 GB ram, a 256gb ssd + 1tb 7200 hd, 8gb AMD Radeon RX480 graphics card.  Has 2-USB 3.1 (that's one c-type and one a-type) plus two hdmi ports. Among the many things I'm hoping the community will offer guidance on is confirmation that the Radeon RX480 will take advantage of openCL.  If I have to, I may be able to switch out to (for $200 extra) to an 8GB NVidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card to take advantage of CUDA, but, given my limited budget, maybe at another time.  It will also depend on what I

We are a small agency with 4 Mac Book Pro workstations running Adobe CC. The machines are mid-2012 15" Retina machines running El Cap and have max ram installed. We are doing more and more projects in Premier Pro and After Effects and are looking to optimize the machines and Adobe CC versions to best work in our environment. Our latest issue occurs when trying to render in After Effects using the CC Media Encoder. We are getting error code 1609629695. In doing online searches for this problem, a host of solutions presented themselves which we are pursuing to see if any actually fix this issue. Several of the thread speak to recent updates causing problems and the solution being to revert to older versions. My question: Is there a list of CC versions, driver versions, etc that we should not upgrade beyond given our hardware limitations? And to follow that, are there best practices when it comes to settings in the Mac OS and/or withing Premier and After Effects that maximize use of our h

VideoPad is slow at rendering previews when I edit, and buffers too often, will Premiere Pro be better?  I think maybe videoPad doesn't make much use of the gpu. I have intel i7 6700 and 32 gm of Ram. My graphics card is nvidia geforce gtx 750 Ti, do you think a better one would help me quite a lot?  Also I do not have SSD.  Which graphics card would you recommend if I upgrade, I think my friend found one that was rated well for 200 or 300$, I forgot the name of it.  I am not really looking to do 4k editing for now, my dslr doesn't do 4k anyway.Thank you very much for the help.- Peter

What kind of hardware/workstation do I need for renderinga) 4K videosb) 360° 180° and VR videos (with Mettle) - 4K or maybe even 8Kin not too much time?(a few hours are ok, but not one day)I want to make Video Art with graphics e.g. 3D or illustrations. The hardware should also be good for Mettle and Trapcode plugins.For rendering I use the Media Encoder and most times H.246.Should the workstation better be something like e.g. a Intel XEON 8core and one Nvidia Quadro P5000?Is a second GPU recommended? Hey!I bought 2 days ago a Ryzen 1700X CPU with a Gigabyte X370 Gaming 5 motherboard to use, among other things, for Premiere Pro.I have tried all possible things and I can't get it to work properly, because of EXTREMELY fast "out of memory" behavior. So I have 16GB of RAM on my machine and if I import 20 4k video files, there's an 80% chance it will run out of memory during import, or a 100% chance it will run out of memory during conforming. The entire process takes around 30s and then Premier Pro is dead. It either closes itself, or I get the out of memory warning with a lot of errors reported by PP itself, cautioning me to save the work and close the program.I tried CUDA acceleration (GPU accelerated Mercury Engine) and software both. They behave the same. The lockup with CUDA enabled is more severe, it may even make the NVIDIA drivers crash. This is on a GTX 1070. Also tried with an RX 480 and it behaves the same, although there's no driver crash.I have tried with a fresh Windows 1

Dobrý den,už delší čas řešíme stále se vracející problém s HW nedostatečností pro střih videa a to i po upgradu PC.Nároky se stále zvyšují a to jak na již zmiňovaný HW PC, tak samozřejmě i na formáty pořizované modernímikamerami. Chápu, že to spolu úzce souvisí, a proto bych se rád zeptal, co nejvíce ovlivňuje výkon při střihuvidea v Adobe Premiere CC2017. Je to procesor? RAM? Grafická karta? Co má největší prioritu? Je lepší AMDs OpenCL nebo nVidia s CUDA a je v tom veliký rozdíl? Momentálně máme ve studiu pracovní stanici HP Z440s grafickou kartou AMD FirePro W5100, CPU Intel Xeon E5-1620 (8 jader - 3,5 GHz) a 16 GB RAM. Nejčastějipracujeme s video formáty .MXF ve full HD rozlišení 50p. Při multi-camovém střihu, kde by byly i jentři kamery- tři stopy s tímto formátem, PC totálně nezvládá a je nutné soubory překonvertovat do nižších formátů.Budu rád za každou radu a za každý tip. Recently our studio installed a proper video server for all our editors to work from. The main reason for doing this was logistics. Like many small studios we were perpetually trading drives with footage, back-ups were in many different places, footage would be lost on occasion. It was a terribly messy and unreliable system. Additionally in the last year we moved from shooting primarily on RED Epic-X and DSLR to RED Epic-W and Sony Cinema. So we started to have to deal with 8K R3D files and garbage Sony codec files! FUN FUN! Our poorly little (extremely top of the line) edit suites were choking. Initially it was perplexing to me because we have multi-cpu Xeon machines with top line geforce cards, fast m.2 caching. The works! So where is the bottleneck? Well it's in storage. In the past the idea was to reduce Pr processing bottle necks by using 3+ HDDs in a RAID configuration.With SSDs can we now skip the RAID controllers and put all our raw video and output video files on 1 SSD?Or maybe have a smaller SSD for Windows 10 and CC apps and a larger SSD for project and video files?A new system might include only 3 drives: 240MB SSD + 1TB SSD + 4TB HDD.Projects can be processed on the 1TB SSD and when completed moved to the 4TB HHD for storage in case they need to be moved back on the 1TB SSD for further processing.

Hi All,I'm starting a new job soon and fear that the standard laptop given to employees won't effectively handle InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat (or running any of these simultaneously). I will be the only person at the company, and probably am the first, who will be using these programs so I doubt they have any experience/ familiarity with the system requirements.That said, I wondered whether any of you could advise as to what the basic specs for a Windows laptop should be (CPU, ram, storage etc.) in order to run these programs effectively without freezing up or breaking after 2 years? I'm by no means looking for a beast machine, just specs that will do the job.Thanks!
