This may help. After using a filter, it appears at the top of the filter menu. However clicking there applies the same settings again to whatever layer you now have highlighted, so it is a quick way of applying existing settings. To use a filter with new settings, choose it from the normal menu list.

What you've tried in Gallery Filter will be applied to the same number in the same filter for the next exercise. I have asked adobie inquiry as follows, but i am not a minister. Did you apply the Filter as a Smart Filter?

What happens when you simply select another Filter in the Filter Gallery dialog?

If you want to add another Filter in the  Filter Gallery dialog click the »New Effect Layer«-icon (left of the trashcan-icon).
