There should be absolutely no problem with having a 356 page book with linked photos in InDesign and exporting PDF directly from within InDesign. Embedding 1,367 raster images within an InDesign document could be dicey, though! I just now created another file with all images embedded. Now exporting a PDF from InDesign. In only a couple of minutes it's already up to 10%. Never been that fast with the linked images. Does your printer in Thailand want a PDF file or an InDesign file? Preferably, you should be providing them with a PDF/X-4 file with live transparency, ICC color management, and all fonts embedded. You shouldn't ever need to convert ICC color-managed photos to whatever flavor CMYK! Sending source files (i.e., InDesign documents and if not embedded, linked graphics) is a real crap shoot and looking for problems based on our experience at Adobe and best industry practices. PDF.
