Hello.
For several months I've been encountering a problem where Illustrator does not always "remember" that I've copied something so when I go to paste it (on the same or other artboard) it's not doing it. This happened every now and then, enough to be annoying but manageable.
I have to go back and repeatedly Ctrl + C or Ctrl + X the same element numerous times, sometimes 3-4 times to get it to register that I've copied it.
I had put this down to an issue with my machine and/or some weird bug in Windows 10 but have since completely changed desktops to new hardware, fresh installation of Illustrator etc. and the problem is still there. What's worse is that with the release of the 2020 versions, it's significantly worse, happening a lot more than it did before.
It's now become extremely frustrating and causes a host of problems, especially when you've copied something and relied on the program doing what it should be doing only to find that it hasn't copied and you've lost those copied changes.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and if so is there some sort of fix? I have done the normal things like reset preferences, reinstall Illustrator etc.
Not sure if hardware specs help but: Windows 10 Pro - i9-9900k - RTX 2080 Ti - 32GB RAM - 550GB M.2 NVMe SSD

Hi there, Hoping someone could help me with this. I have a sentence, approximately 40 characters. They're all outlined and ungrouped (can be grouped of course). If I draw a circle using the shape tool, is there any way I can send these individually outlined objects to follow the path of the circle? Basically exactly like Type On Path would work if I were typing letters out. These are custom drawn letters otherwise I'd achieve this simply using type of path - Arranging them by hand seems like a very tedious process so wondering if there was a simpler and quicker way. Thanks!

Hi there, Wondering if someone can help me with this as I am unsure how to do it. I've attached an example here of what I am hoping can be done fairly easily in Illustrator I'm looking to have outline text bend/warp around the bottom of a circle like the attached. The circle is causing the G CO to curve around it. I was thinking envelope distort was used in some way but perhaps mistaken? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the FontBase info. As I was trying to diagnose what was causing this problem I contacted the FontBase developer and he (after taking 2 weeks to respond to me) said there was an issue with FontBase and this was likely causing this problem with Illustrator. He said a fix would be in the next update but failed to say when that would be. However, I wasn't convinced it was FontBase. I had originally formatted my machine and reinstalled everything fresh - This included the removal of FontBase entirely and I didn't reinstall it initially. The problem was still present. Yesterday I noticed an update pending on the FontBase app and proceeded to update. Since then, the Illustrator problem has completely vanished. So for me it seems this has resolved my problem (I hope completely, I'll be monitoring). I don't know if Illustrator have pushed out an update in the background or if it was the FontBase update. Either way, I am very happy to say I am no longer plagued by this. So check out the FontBase update and see how you fair if you're still affected by this problem.

There isn't a fix that we can do, that I can see. It's a problem with Illustrator itself so would need to be addressed with a patch. I saw several updates in Cloud being downloaded today, I had hoped one was for Illustrator but nothing was pushed for Illustrator.

Also had one of the senior quality testers remote into my machine. I was given no such direction (although I am on a Windows machine) and they said they'll be investigating. Still waiting on an update from them. What do you mean by fresh account? A fresh user account in Mac? I did the equivalent with Windows with a complete format (twice) and also use an Administrator account as standard - so i guess that's the same thing in essence?

Hello Thanks for the response. I have already had 3 people do long remote sessions with me. All have pretty much repeated which the last one did and none of them have been able to either diagnose the problem or offer a solution. I was told I'd have a call back from the last agent I dealt with yesterday and he didn't call me - He said he was investigating the problem at would let me know the outcome? If you'd like to do another then happy to do so but I'd rather not repeat the same thing over and over again.

That's exactly it, yup. It doesn't happen straight away but what I did notice is, that I can force it to happen by creating a new file (blank) and opening an existing AI file with content inside it. Creating the new file and spinning boxes around, resizing etc. doesn't bug it out (I'm sure it would after prolonged use) but opening an existing project along side it, and then moving content in there and/or moving back to the blank, it suddenly starts happening. None of the things support have done (obvious things like turning off GPU acceleration, resetting preferences, renaming Illustrator folders etc etc. - things I've already tried more than once) have had any effect. Spent over an hour with one last night, remoting in like the others and he repeated the same things the previous agents did. I appreciate the assistance but there is a complete disconnect between support staff and they're doing the same simple things anyone who's spent an hour looking at troubleshooting guides would have already done, so it's a waste of my time to keep dealing with them. I mentioned in my previous response that I was going to disable Fontbase completely and see if it affected it. It didn't. Had no impact at all so that rules out Fontbase. I've ruled out every app now pretty confidently. I am hoping someone from Adobe will chime in here and help out.

I believe my problem is very similar to this one, posted a thread here some days ago with a video Jumping Cursor and "Invisible Outlined Boxes" From your original post it didn't sound like it was the same but looking at your video now, and others' responses here, it appears to be an issue numerous people are experiencing. I've been in touch with support and frustratingly they haven't yet produced a solution (though they've tried something today and I'm waiting to see if it had any impact, I highly doubt it). The problem for me is every time they remote connect, the problem fails to show up as it doesn't happen straight away for me, it takes some time to happen. I've gone through everything I could think of, finishing up with 2 complete HDD formats and it hasn't made a difference. After seeing your post about Google Drive - I didn't have Google Drive installed but had Onedrive so I removed that and didn't have any impact. For a time I was convinced it was related to the new RTX 2080 cards and the support for them in Adobe apps but I'm told by Adobe support it's supported. As you're on Mac, that throws that theory out the window. I am also on Windows 10. The only other thing which I thought of today was perhaps it's the only program I have integrated with Illustrator - That being Fontbase. Someone here mentioned they disabled that and it didn't have any impact but I've just done that now and will see how that goes. Extremely frustrating for me as it's really preventing me from using Illustrator.

Hi there, Hoping someone could help me here as I can't find any solution to this issue. This is a newly built machine, prior to this Illustrator was working fine on older computer. When moving, rotating, resizing etc. within Illustrator, these "invisible" outlines of the selection appear (visible when switching to Outline view). The cursor will often jump whilst dragging/resizing and that leaves the selection box outline behind. Moving an object slightly by dragging it with the mouse cursor or rotating it slightly or largely, outline of the selection (sometimes bigger) remains. I can select the box(es) and delete them (can also add a stroke to it and such). This becomes a big issue if I have to move something numerous times to tweak the positioning as each time it's leaving these invisible "boxes" behind and I end up with dozens of them. I can see them all clearly in outline view and have to manually select each and remove them. Not to mention the occasion random jump of the mouse when resizing. Would anyone know what the cause is of this? I'm using the latest version of Illustrator from Creative Cloud. I am on Windows 10. I have completely removed Illustrator, have even formatted the machine it was installed on. At first I thought it was perhaps ghost keystrokes or a dodgy mouse, but I've tried a different mouse and keyboard and has made no difference. The other consideration I had was that it was somehow related to the graphics card - I am using a brand new Nvidia RTX 2080 TI card. I thought perhaps there wasn't proper support for this yet but Adobe support claims that it is supported...The card works absolutely fine for everything else. Latest drivers. It should also be noted that this issue doesn't immediately start happening. I can launch Illustrator and use it fine for 10-20-30 minutes and then it starts to happen out of the blue.
