Hi there
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. I understand your situation, a lot of users only need to fill, edit, or sign PDFs occasionally, and a full monthly subscription can feel like more than you need.
A few points that might help:
1. Using Adobe Acrobat for form filling & signing
For many standard PDF forms and electronic signatures, Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free software) is often sufficient. It supports:
Filling out interactive PDF forms
Adding text to non-interactive forms
Adding signatures or initials using Fill & Sign
If your form only needed that, you may not need Pro at all.
2. Why Acrobat Pro prompted an upgrade:
Features that require editing existing text, rearranging pages, converting formats, and advanced OCR do fall under Pro, which is why you saw the upgrade prompt.
3. Regarding pricing / pay-per-use
The idea of a lighter, usage-based or short-term plan has been suggested by many users, especially those with low-frequency needs.
Currently, Adobe offers:
Monthly subscriptions (you can cancel anytime), and
Bundles for business users
But no pay-per-use / weekly passes at the moment.
4. If you only edit or sign once every 1–2 months, you could:
Subscribe for a single month when you need it, then cancel
Use Acrobat Reader for basic filling/signing the rest of the time
This avoids paying continuously for features you don’t need year-round.
Hope this information will help.
