FYI, my FM Book file and Chapter files opened and display normally in FM 17.0.6 as of this morning.

.FM chapter files should appear tabbed and selectable (default) across the top of the FM UI when the standard Open All Files in Book command is selected. Following the 17.0.6 update, all previously saved (and default) Workspace settings disappeared, and are not displayed (nor selectable) from the Workspace drop-down menu. I saved a new Workspace setting from an older FM backup book file, but selecting any Workspace setting from the restored Workspace drop-down menu does not restore proper display of hidden/minimized .FM chapter files in the FM UI window. To correct this and (at least temporarily) restore proper display of minimized/hidden files in the UI, select Tile, then Consolidate from the Window menu. YMMV.

Jeff, Would you know whether there's a way to revert the 17.0.6 update to 17.0.5? I'm asking because I just updated to 17.0.6 within the last couple of days, but this morning, I've encountered an issue displaying book chapter files in the FM UI normally - they are launching minimized, and are not auto-loading as tabs across the top of the UI workspace. Also, I have to double-click on each chapter title in the book file after it's already been opened in order to view the content. Thanks - Randall Bassin

Agreed - Photoshop 22.3.0 does not recognize the .HEIC file extension.

Hi, Winfried - Thank you for testing in FrameMaker 2020, version 16.0.1.817 (this is the version I'm currently running, too). I'm not sure whether the reference page text formatting was different in the previous version, but I'm happy to know that your test output also produced functioning links. This particular project file utilized a previously-created LOF to streamline LOF formatting, so the faulty format may have been imported from that file. Thanks to frameexpert's sharp eyes, I recognize what to look for in the event that this issue occurs in future FM projects. Best Regards, Randall

Agreed - I'd tried regenerating the LOF and got the same error. Per your suggestion, I checked the Reference Page content, which displays the capitalized "O": OpenObjectId <$relfilename>:<$ObjectType> <$ObjectId> Editing it to lowercase resolved the issue in the additional links that I've tested. Thank You, again!

Per your suggestion, I just edited the 1st link in the LOF, and now it works perfectly. Thank You for your sharp eyes, and for the suggestion to resolve this frustrating issue!

Hi, Winfried - Unfortunately, links didn't work in the .pdf. I checked the reference page content, and it appears to be identical. I'll try a MIF wash and duplicate the LOF - thank you very much for the suggestions. Best Regards, Randall

In FM 2020, my Book file's Generated TOC and IX files work fine, but clicking on links in the LOF displays OpenObjectID errors, and don't link to the figures in the Chapter files. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you are on a FM 2019 subscription plan, contact your company's IT Administrator or reach out to Adobe re: your account. They should be able to assist you.

The update to 15.0.5.838 has nothing to do with resolution of this issue. I submitted a Help request to Adobe support this morning, and they are reviewing it as of this writing.

EXACTLY what I'm seeing, as well - I noted that the Welcome Screen initially displays normally for a split-second before blowing up. My Desktop PC's default browser is Google Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit). However, when I right-click on the welcome.html file, a Windows IE Explorer icon is displayed on the File Properties display. That suggests that the browser setting needs to be modified in FrameMaker 2019, but I'm not sure where in FrameMaker 2019 that setting might need to be configured. Anyone? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Re: Winfried_Reng's point about the FrameMaker default browser configuration setting, I'm getting a similar distorted display of the Welcome Screen when I launch FrameMaker 2019. My Windows 10 Desktop PC has Google Chrome Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit) installed as the default browser, but when I right-click on the welcome.html file, a Windows IE Explorer icon is displayed on the File Properties display. Where would I modify the browser setting in FrameMaker 2019? Thank You!

Resolved - worked with Adobe Support to reset FM2019 User Preferences to default state, then relaunched the book (chapter files restored to default appearance as expected). Thank You to everyone for your sugggestions!

That seems to be the $64,000 Question: How is FM2019 misinterpreting FM2019-created chapter files as earlier-versioned FM files? It's never occurred before. The only thing we are seeing is that several of the FM2019 chapter files are suddenly displayed in the book file window with earlier FM version colored icons.

No - we never suppress upgrade messages. Multiple versions of FM are used at my company, so we're always aware of which version of FM a file is created in.

No message at all - the Chapter files simply appear in the book file window with different colored icons (e.g,, from what look like FM 11, FM 2017, etc.). The FM 2019 64-bit software is upgraded to the latest version, btw.

Hi, all - I'm creating a 14-chapter FM2019 book, and for some reason, FM is misinterpreting several Chapter files as being created using earlier versions of FM (e.g, FM 11, FM 2017). This is the first time I've seen this issue, and I can't figure out why it's happening - I have multiple versions of FM installed on my desktop PC, but they weren't running, and no Chapter files were downgrade-saved as earlier FM versions. It's possible that a lengthy directory name where the files are saved might be problematic, but we've never had an issue like this occur since we installed FM2019 at my company. Any guesses would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

BarbBinder - Yes, I experimented with the Column Balance and Pagination settings throughout the document, which helped - but text flow was still surprisingly problematic to manage, partially due to project requirements (e.g., the presence of "excess white space" on the page is discouraged). I'm encouraged by your comment that you're able to create a long two-column document with no issues, so I'll continue to work with those features and refine paragraph tag styles and anchored frame settings going forward. Thank You.
