And now in 2025.. I am wondering the exact same thing... do i really need... 7 encoders.... and apparently I dont.. but if i ever wanted to use an older version of photoshop or premier and after effects... i could only export video if I had the right encoder to match the app. Adobe doesnt really explain this anywhere.......

I am using 25.12.0 version of photoshop (which i just updated to) and the save to web feature has just stopped working entirely. Any thoughts. I use this all the time and its pretty frustraiting having nothing happen when you click the menu and nothing happens. hopefully this can be fixed asap. seems like an important missing aspect of the software...

working in outline mode is a total mind trip... not really possible in my case.. lol....... but maybe its possible... since it doesnt look like i have alot of other options.... hiding it might work too..... or taking a screenshot, and linking it toanother file could work too... ..

Actually, would working on file on a faster computer with more RAM, CPU ect ect make a difference at this point? the current laptop has 32gb ram, midrange cpu, 3050 (4gb vram).... I remember the previous version of illustrator would you let you allocate ram in preferences like photoshop... but this option seems to be gone now...

so i could select parts of it hide them... 😮 without effecting work in anyway? this could work I suppose... im eager to try it... It seems if I group objects together, it runs better.. but currently the whole mass is groups of groups.... Tbh, illustrator in windows 11 is far worse than it was in windows 10...lag wise..

unfortunately not. I have spent the past 2 years on this artwork, I need to keep the file off the internet. I can provide a screenshot... so you get the idea. Is there any way to disable parts of illustrator which I am not using in this file?

This is my file... and illustrator is running really slow and I really need to make it faster to work on this file to finish. I honestly don't know who to turn to at this point, since it seems this a really nice issue to have. My file doesnt contain fonts, colours. Only black, white, and greyscale objects (which is news to me lol) Is there any adobe devs on here who could help me make illustrator run better?

Howdy Im working on this extremely detailed black and white artwork at the moment. The work is just made using the pencil tool drawing shapes in black and white. its 140 x 190 cm at size. 🙂 Ive found at this point that i need to frequently group all elements into one layer and draw in new details into a new layer and then group all the elements again into a single layer and repeat. Ive found the software starts to hang and even crash sometimes after a certain amount of objects or complex objects drawn. I would be really interested in finding out ways to increase performance? Since I am only using the Pencil tool, can i turn off fonts, plugins ect ect to increase performance? Im using laptop studio laptop, 32gb ram, 2tb hd and laptop 3050 gpu

Hey Doug Bit of a slow reply. 😜 But this issue is still plaguing me and annoys me daily, i just had to move on because I couldnt find an answer to how to fix it or finding someone at adobe or microsoft who could find an answer and make a change. See photo, even with all layer colour preferences selected, when drawing with the surface pen, it defaults to this dark blue colour. Highly frustating if drawing on dark colours.

You are right. with the mouse it does corisponde with the layer colour... but using the surface pen (surface go and surface book2) its the dark blue colour. weird. any ideas why this might be? cheers Paul

Hey Peter Thanks for the reply. My understanding from following your instructions, changes the Colour of the layer and also when objects are selected. But unfortently, this doesnt effect the preview line that is created while u are drawing a shape or line, which then vanishes when you lift the pen off the screen and either creates the shape or line. got any more ideas? p

Hello helpful adobians! I've been a long time user of illustrator and something ive taken for granted seems to have changed and I cant find out how to change it. well.. my questions is... in past versions of illustrator, when you select the colour of the layer (red ,blue ect ect) this would determin what colour the preview line would be when drawing with pencil tool for example. Currently this colour is set to dark blue ( see image) and its almost impossible to see when drawing on a dark coloured shape. (like black for example). In the past I used to pick a colour layer that was lighter, like white, yellow or pink) and it ment i could easly see my preview lines and shapes while drawing them. Is there any way to change the colour? any help much appreciated!!!!! This single little color change is really slowing me down atm.

Hey Dan Magnificent Future, work in progress from nov 2019. This image is from nov 2019, I have done a lot too it since then. 😄 99% manually drawn with a few elements copy and pasted. This work is for my solo exhibition in April called Futurescape! Created at size, 140 cm x 190 cm, all vector. Golly, I hope the printer I use can rip it okay lol.....:O I hadn't considered that as a possibility... (I've only had trouble with places that have old printers) the newer ones should be okay....

Sept 2018. I am still having this issue using 2017 & 2018 illustrator cc. I am using win10. If I have photoshop open in the background with any sort of document, dialog box open. Sometimes this means I cant move objects in Illustrator. restarting or closing background application seems to have fixed it for a while. But often happens again! Seriously this bug has been driving me mental. I hope adobe can iron this one out! peace!
