Thank you Stephan for taking the time. I'm going to have our I.T. guy look at your script as I realize with my first attempt that this is beyond me. Simply copying your script to edit.exe wasn't working how I was trying to do it.  Also, I set my color management policies to "Gray: off" but I still get the warning. Converting to RGB isn't a practical option as the are up to 150 megapixel files so tripling the size when not necessary is something I'd like to avoid.  I seriously need to make a better effort to better understand color management as it has eluded me for 2 decades now. Ah...you're correct. The guy that built the scanner has the scanner apply a rec. 709 color space to all files including these single channel B&W files so this is confusing Photoshop (There is a long explanation as to why rec. 709 vs Adobe RGB that I only partly understand) Will your script still work? ... Thanks for the very thorough responce Conrad. Yes, when I watch my status monitor, I can see what's beeing utilized and sometimes it's CPU and other times GPU but for the A.I. stuff, there's a lot of GPU. We deal with a lot of really big film scan files as we're using a 150 megapilxel POAM Scanner (Phase One Achromatic Multispectral). With a lot of the small format film (Kodak Disc, 110 and sometimes APS), we're dialing in (separate layer 10 to 40 percent) some Topaz Photo A.I. or Photoshop's "Film Restoration". The Photo A.I. is particularily GPU intensive.  Just made our purchase today for my new editing computer AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7 I know there are those that say to stick with Intel but I'm also seeing enough recommendations for AMD.    I use Adobe Camera Raw a ton in my editing so I'm encouraged about what you say in regards to the GPU. I wasn't thinking I wasn't needing anymore than an 8 gb GPU...this door crasher sale just happened to have the 16gb GPU. Feeling a little better about that purchase now. I don't mean to challenge you but we're looking into a new custom built computer too and most of what I've been seeing is the the current version of Photoshop isn't very GPU intensive and the CPU is what matters. Thanks Trevor - Maybe I'm not going crazy. In the past, rotate would always rotate from the center axis but now, the image is being pushed into the upper left hand corner of how the image was originally opened or last centered on the screen. Square images rotate normal. It is only other aspect ratios that push into the upper left hand corner. I haven't tried the Beta version because of past bad experiences with beta versions. Image transform works as it should and I had hoped by turning on the center align there, would effect the image rotate feature too but it doesn't.  There are other bugs too I've never had. For instance...when I'm running an action with a crop in it, I only see the bounding box for the crop if i start the action with the crop tool engaged. I do agree with you that it will be unlikely that this slider will ever be added but just because you can do the same thing with the other two sliders, doesn't make it redundant becasue it would improve workflow especially when dealing with huge volumes of pictures. If you're just dealing with images all the same aspect ratio, some portrait and some landscape, set both the horizontal and vertical perameters in the "image processor" to the higher value. For instance. If you have a bunch of images and you want them all to be 2000 by 3000 pixels and you have mixed orientations, then set the horizontal and vertical number to 3000. This way all of your images will come out the same size - either 2000 by 3000 pixels or 3000 by 2000 pixels. Don't enter the shorter dimension at all.
