adobe basically blames innovation for it. they used OpenGL.. OpenGL now sucks (adobes words in the FAQ why they removed 3D from PS) and they have no intention to use a "better" API.   that is basically what they give as explanation for removing 3D from photoshop. subscription rocks!   you can buy another subscription for the recently aquired substance 3D apps.   ... That feature was proposed a decade ago already. Plenty of disussions about why it is useful to write Metadata into files exist too (if that is not clear from the start).   Lightroom is promoted as DAM Software.....so it would be great if it actually uses the Metadata fields that exist in videos.  So other software in the production pipeline can make use of the Metadata you took the time to add.   I know Adobe likes to have it ONLY in their OWN Library because that way it is harder to switch to other software.   @DdeGannes wrote: Bridge is an alternative to the Lightroom Classic and cannot access read or access info from the catalog file. i only see something happening when using the black and white view mode. of course i can not work this way. really how long until adobe hires someone who actually knows how to code GPU acceleration? every new version something with GPU support is broken. liquify, select and mask or some other stuff. no other graphic software i use has so many GPU issues. and adobe is 2D stuff, simple pixel manipulation compared to other software. i run 3D software that does way more in terms of GPU processing and runs fine with OpenCL and Cuda. get your stuff together..... ... it seems select and mask is broken (again) in the latest PS version.   nothing happens in the select and mask windows. but when i click OK then changes are applied. but nothing happens in the select and mask window when using the brushes or pushing sliders.   it worked before an i did not change my windows 10 system or upgraded my GPU etc. ... If your file contains items that are not supported in your required format (e.g. layers or 16 bits/channel) then the file format is moved to the Save as Copy menu. i corrected that in my post to not confuse you or others. of course i meant saving an image that has layers out to JPG format (without keeping the layers).   i am aware of save a copy. that was mentioned a few times now. but it does not help when the actions use the save as dialog.   "it behaves different now. i can´t save layered files as JPG... i have to flaten them first."   You never could save a layered file as a jpeg, the jpeg format does not support layers.   Dave       ...
