Any "frame" in FM crops the content to the area of the frame itself. If you need to see all of the content in a given size, then for graphics use the Scale option to reduce the size of the content to fit the frame size. Peter, Actually, what this requirement is asking is defined by the IOR (index of references) capability. If one edits the default Reference page entry for the IOR to add system filename building block (short or full path) to the pagenum entry, it will tell you what file(s) the inset is in within each book. Now if one builds a super-book of all files in a user's work area or perhaps the new book-within-book capability of FM9 will allow searching all source files from a single run, then this may be the way to go. Part of the issue is that Acrobat changed the default location of some files, including the joboptions files, going from v.7 to v.8, so your version of Distiller may not be able to find what it needs in your current configuration and aborts. I also believe that FM needs the info in a specific Registry setting to tell Distiller that a file is available, but sometimes updating to a new version of Acrobat doesn't clean out the old Registry settings properly and the new ones don't replace the old ones. I've had to use the Adobe CSClean3 and CSClean4 scripts (meant for the Creative Suites, but these do include Acrobat so they fix up that aspect) to clean things up prior to re-installing Acrobat9. ... Adriana, The openlink and gotolink commands assume that the file that you are linking to is a ".fm" file and will convert the filetype to ".pdf" on output to PDF. So, you have to tell FM a "white lie" when you create the hypertext marker. For example, if you want to link to mypdffile.pdf on drive D:, then in the FM hypertext marker you specify: gotolink D:/pathname/mypdffile.fm FM will complain that it can't find the specified .fm file, but ignore it. Unfortunately, you can't test the link from within FM at this point. You need to create the PDF. The historical difference between gotolink and openlink is that the "goto" version would try to display the linked file in the current window, while the "open" command would display it in a new window. For PDFs, this setting is actually controlled by the user's Acrobat preferences - the "Open Cross-Document Links in Same Window" setting. Note: regarding Acrobat Pro and Reader on the same platform - as long as you have the same level versions, e.g. 9.3.2, you can get away with it, though it isn't a recommended practice. FM only sees AI files as a form of PDF, and doesn't get all of the proper information. Remove or hide extraneous objects on your artboard and then save as EPS (or PDF, but FM converts to PDF to EPS internally anyway, so you can save a step). Select the anchored frame and then import the EPS by reference. If you try to copy & paste, you will get an OLE object and your graphic will actually render as a WMF. ... View more

Check that the EPS was created a with preview (TIF format, not WMF). FYI, as I mentioned earlier, FM always converts PDF files to EPS format when importing, so to avoid a bit of overhead when you have a choice, save as EPS instead. Note: there also is a maker.ini setting EPSLevelForPlacedPDF, which by default is not included, that should be set equal to 3.
