I am super excited about the new feature in InDesign to export HTML directly for web, however, my client's site is enormous and in a legacy format of the web. Can anyone please inform me whether this new ID workflow addresses cross-platform (desktop, tablet, phone) viewports or cross-browser & backwards compatibility? I'd like to know if our designers can use this workflow to provide our web designers with the files they need in this type environment. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Thanks Jonathan, I agree. It seems like a strange way to work, especially when there is no need to edit these icons directly in ID. Sure it may work, and you *can* do it, but it doesn't mean one should. Especially when, in my case, it's a 90 page catalog. What could have been as simple as packaging the file and sending the links is now an enormous headache and waste of time. To each their own, I suppose. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

They are not working in InDesign, so I can't just send them the ID document. I was concerned about pasting back into AI because part of the shape was created in ID. I'll assume by your answer that it's fine. I appreciate your time and assistance.

I'm on a brand new mac running Adobe CC 2017. Someone has created an InDesign document where they pasted illustrator vectors inside of shapes created within InDesign. [WHY, for god's sake.] Now someone is requesting these links but they're not links. They appear to still be selectable vectors when you dive in, so I've copied them out of InDesign - the whole ID shape containing the AI vector - pasted the whole thing back into AI and saved it as an .ai file. (I will have to do this multiple times for all of the icons this was done to. Thanks for THAT, previous designer.) I'm just concerned whether this will work or create further problems when it comes to press. I've been a designer a long time and never come across this. Thanks in advance for any commentary! I'd also be curious about another pet peeve - when people paste photoshop files into Illustrator. Am I wrong in assuming this is not within "Good Practices"?

Anyone know if you need a blank keyframe after each bout of camera action (keyframe, motion, keyframe), since it's all on one layer? I'm having a logo show up that I had originally hit camera for, then I wanted to delete it from the camera layer, but it still shows up. I placed a blank keyframe on the camera layer, removed the logo from it's original layer, reimported the logo back into the original layer with camera off, but it still has some weird camera action happening even though I don't have it keyframed or tweened in camera. ) : Also, notice how the frames on the camera layer are white-ish between tweens, but dark where I inserted the blank keyframe. Is that correct? Shouldn't the blank frames be blank and not white? I've been using the camera without issue until this but I'm new and need to know best practices. The 2017 book had nothing to offer on this. [Also, Is there a difference between the "Add camera" button and the tool palette camera? I've been using add camera. Is that the issue?? I thought they were the same.] Much gratitude for any help~

Thank you, Clay, much appreciated. However, I don't understand your statement that 'the output of everything on your computer is bitmap'. ie: .swf file from flash .ai file from Illustrator .wav file from Audition aren't bitmaps... perhaps you meant everything that comes out of an animate html5 canvas?

Hello, I am beginning a new project at work and am considering using the html5 canvas mode, so that it can be viewed on ipads, phones, etc. but I want to make sure that I'm importing everything correctly, ie: When importing Illustrator files into an HTML5 animate cc canvas, do I need to select "import as bitmap" or can they remain vectors? I understand I would need to make the original vectors larger and then size them down within animate, if viewing on large hd screens, because the output is bitmap, correct? I just don't want to create this whole thing having used the wrong formats. Or should I just stick with an actionscript 3 file (which I am mildly familiar with) and export it to html5 if necessary? I understand there are a couple of tools not available in html5 mode, which does not concern me. Is there any other consideration when choosing this format over as3? Thanks in advance for your input! Great tip, thanks Ry! I went ahead and fixed the permissions in all the interior folders (10.0, 9.0, 8.0) and then re-booted and that solved the problem. Great to know I can reset programs by hitting shift though! I'll have to try that next time an adobe starting issue comes up. Thanks again ( :

Where are the preferences? I managed to find the hidden Library folder, (Command J) I think it was, then clicked the Audition folder, hit Command I for Get Info, unlock that panel using password, set everyone to "Read & Write", closed everything, restarted. No help at all. Anyone able to offer advice on this?
