This is not the correct answer, not even remotely the issue I am having. Once I move a start or end point I can not move them again unless I move the selected object. .

I am referring to the handles on the start and end points of the type. Not editing the path. Simply trying to move the text along the path

I add type to a path ( in this case a circle) Then select. Handles show everything is good at this point. If i move any of the points the handles go away. However i move the selection they come back.

After i move a start or end point the handle disappear. If i move the selected path and type they reappear.
