Hi, I'm trying to increase my INSIDE margins to 23 (from 12.7). When I go into FILE - DOCUMENT SETUP and make that change, it increases the Inside margin on the Right pages - but increases the OUTSIDE margin on the Left pages. What gives? I need both Insides modified (in order to keep my images from getting buried in the spine). Any thoughts? Thanks!

I don't see the "a" with the umlaut above it - only the umlaut seperately - which I should be able to simply double click while the "A" is highlighted and have it applied that way.

So, I need an umlaut above an "A" (it's a German thing)... I'm highlighting the "A", then double-clicking the umlaut symbol in Glyphs, but it's just inserting the umlaught before the "A" - not above it. Strange, that this was what worked in the past, but no longer. Any ideas how to remedy?

Thanks Rob. Also, my original Master pages don't have the bg color extended all the way to the bleed itself. How do I edit those existing Master pages to have the page color extend all the way to the bleed?

Hi, I have a 400 page file. My pages are 10x12 - and my bleed is 4mm. There are 4 different bg/colored pages scattered throughout it. When I created the Master Pages, I brought the color of the page all the way out to the bleed (Pic 1, below)... My question is, when the two pages are side-by-side (as in a spread), one of the bleed overlaps the other (Pic 2, below). What's the proper way to align these, so that both inside edges are equal to the bleed lines? Thanks!

My issue is this: When I originally created my [400 page] document, whoever created it created a master to change all of the defaulted WHITE pages to have a BLACK background (my doc is now entirely black). I now wish to change only some of those black BGs to WHITE. Trouble is, when I draw the box around it and choose a color from Swatch, I don't see WHITE as a color option. Is this something I need to alter in the Master? (and if so, how?) Thanks!

Hi, My original file is in InDesign. I'm needing to insert my watermark on ALL pages of the PDF of my InDesign file, but the watermark is only appearing on my two-page spreads. I would like the watermark to appear on each individual page (not the spreads). Is this a change that needs to be made in InDesign prior to exporting to PDF? (Hope not...) Thanks!

Strange. While viewing my doc in a spread (left and right page), there's a dotted line surrounding the entirety of my left page, but not my right - and ironically, I'm not able to change the BG color of that right page (it shows as black while working with the document, but when I exported it to a PDF, it came up as white). Note: Someone set this file up for me initially, hence my not knowing what's going on at the moment. 🙂

Thank you all. That did the trick! My other [totally separate] issue is I'm uploading VERY large files into my InDesign project, and it's basically taking forever to load them ("loading TIFF" window/status bar goes nowhere). One in particular is an image of a poster at 150 MB. This poster scan was originally 98 MB, but after PhotoShopping it a bit (cropping/straightening, CMYK), it became huge. Is there any way (in either iPhoto, where my photos are stored, or PS, where some edits are made) to reduce the SIZE, but not the quality? I saved it in iPhoto as MAX quality and LARGE in size (down from my normal save of FULL) - and it reduced the imaged to 978 k. I was pretty surprised that it leapt from such a high res to such a poor res with a mere downsize from FULL to LARGE. Happy to bring this over to the PS forum if need be. Thanks again! Brad

Hi, Can anyone tell me why InDesign is Reading my files (as displayed in a status bar at the very bottom of the page/screen)? Not a big deal, but it's hanging and making life sluggish (and frankly, I've never noticed it before)... Thanks! Brad
