Accelerate existing workflows by quickly adding detailed vectors to shapes in just 3 simple steps:
- Choose the shape or path you want to fill in.
- Look for the contextual HUD that appears after selection. Write the prompt in the HUD, or you can leave the prompt section empty.
- Click the 'Gen Shape Fill' button.
The best part is that your original artwork stays untouched, and you can create as many variations as you want.
Shape Strength and Detail:

Shape Strength:
- Adjust the slider to set how closely the fill should match the shape's outline.
- Tight: The fill will fully match the outline.
- Loose: The fill will have contours similar to real-life objects, not always fully matching the outline.
Detail:
- Adjust the slider to set the desired level of detail in the fill.
Style Reference and Effects

Style Reference:
- Auto: Leave this enabled to match the fill style with the surrounding objects (vector or image).
- Choose Asset or Replace Asset: Select this option to pick a style from a specific object in your artwork. Then, either select the object or draw a lasso around it.
Effects:
- Apply one or more preset effects as needed.
Other Settings

For additional settings like tone and color, click on "View all settings" to open the Gen Shape Fill dialog box.
Color Presets:
- Select a preset that resonates with your preferences.
Number of Colors:
- You can precisely control the color palette for your artwork, limiting it to a maximum of 30 colors or you may leave it as Auto.
Specify Colors:
- You have the flexibility to incorporate up to 12 brand colors. To edit or remove a specified color, select it and make the changes in the menu that appears.
Key Considerations for Best Results
- The input shape takes precedence over the text prompt for variations.
For example, if you create a bird shape and use the prompt "birds," the fill will complete the appearance of that single bird rather than adding multiple birds within the shape.
- Some effects applied to the input shape may not be preserved in the output variations.
For example, if you apply an effect to a shape and then use Generative Fill, the effect might disappear in the created fill.
- Using Generative Shape Fill on a line segment results in empty variations. If you create a line and attempt to use Generative Shape Fill on it, the output will be empty.
