Substance 3D Sampler 5.1 has just been released!

Sampler 5.1 has been released and is there to make digitizing materials easier than ever before!

 

This new update introduces, among other things:

  • New automatic tiling capabilities for structured or patterned materials
  • Improved scan processing filters
  • New layer stack capabilities
  • New HP Z Captis support features
  •

      Why is the 3D capture feature no longer accessible? I have quite a few old projects using that. Are we no longer able to use Sampler for Photogrammetry?

        We’re evolving Sampler to focus on next-generation material creation.

        For now (in Sampler 5.1) it is still possible to open and export the 3D models created using the 3D capture in a previous version of the app, but it is not possible to create a new photogrammetry project.

        To create a new photogrammetry project you will need to use a previous version of the app!

        Why has the 3D Capture feature been removed?

          Hello,

          I’ve just updated to Substance 3D Sampler 5.1 and noticed that the 3D Capture feature is now disabled, with the message “The 3D capture feature is no longer supported.”

           

          However, the Creative Cloud product page for Sampler still lists 3D Capture as one of the main uses, complete with description and promotional images. This is confusing and somewhat misleading, as it suggests the feature is still available in the latest version.

          Now, it seems there is no official way to revert to version 5.0 — the “Other Versions” option in Creative Cloud no longer lists it, and the Help Center doesn’t provide any download link for previous installers either.

           

          Why the 3D Capture feature has been disabled?

          Can you provide an official way for users to install Sampler 5.0 (or earlier) if they still need 3D Capture? This would help a lot of users who rely on this workflow.

            Hi @Mikecube ,

             

            We are in the process of updating the content of the creative cloud pages, but unfortunately it takes a long time and could not be done in time for the release.

            It is still possible to install older versions! You have to click on the three dots next to the "open" blue button, like in the screenshot. Today there you have all versions until Sampler 1.1.2 available.

            I can see the link to the previous versions now, but I also checked just before I posted my reply and I'm quite sure there wasn't.

            I must have misread something...
