What's New in Photoshop Beta

This month's Photoshop Beta update adds Enhance Edge and a redesigned Stock panel, plus Relight improvements and fixes across stability, color, tools, and localization.

New Features

Enhance Edge
Clean up color fringe along mask edges. Select a mask, pick Enhance Edge from the Contextual Task Bar or by right-clicking a layer mask, and Photoshop uses AI to decontaminate the edge while holding onto fine detail like hair and fur. It uses 20 generative credits, and Content Credentials are recorded on the output layer. View Post.

Redesigned Stock panel
Search, preview, and license Adobe Stock content without leaving Photoshop. Browse free and paid assets, drag them straight to your canvas, and keep an eye on your credit balance from the panel. View Post.

Improvements

Relight

• Content Credentials are now recorded on Relight output layers.
• The Original Lighting slider now defaults to 100% for a brighter starting point (was 50%).
• Added X and Y position sliders in Light Properties for precise placement.

Remove tool

• Output layers are now named "Remove tool edits 1, 2..." instead of a placeholder.

Bug Fixes

Crashes and stability

• Fixed crashes when using Transform (Cmd/Ctrl+T) on a Relight layer, switching to the AI Assisted workspace with an Indexed Color document, and converting Grayscale to Duotone.
• Fixed an intermittent hang on launch when scratch disk space was low.
• [Win] Fixed intermittent hangs in the Sky Replacement, Adaptive Wide Angle, and Focus Area dialogs.

Relight

• Fixed Relight layers turning into a zoomed-in crop after using the Crop tool, and distorting when changing bit depth from 8-bit to 16-bit.
• Fixed typed-in slider values not updating the canvas, and unnecessary re-generation when the lighting had not changed.
• Fixed the Contextual Task Bar disappearing when opening the Relight flyout menu, and the tool label showing placeholder text instead of "Relight".

Enhance Edge

• Fixed output layer content sometimes going invisible after merging layers.

Color and display

• [Mac] Fixed GPU rendering artifacts and color banding when converting RGB to CMYK with HDR color management on.
• [Win] Fixed a temporary color shift when enabling Live Gaussian Blur.
• Fixed tiling artifacts when reordering layers with Gaussian Blur applied, and the transparency checkerboard rendering with incorrect gamma when HDR color management was on.

Tools

• Fixed the Move tool Auto Select Group/Layer dropdown behaving opposite to its label, glitchy rotate snapping that skipped 15-degree increments, and the Quick Compare view setting not persisting after a restart.
• [Win] Fixed the brush hardness shortcut (Shift+bracket) also changing brush size.

UI and panels

• Fixed the Color Balance panel not scaling correctly.
• [Win] Fixed the truncated Stock search field.

Localization

• Fixed "AI Assisted" and "Pro Editor" labels showing in English regardless of locale, and the "Generating with Firefly Fill & Expand" string not being localized during Generative Expand.
