Lost the Original File? Here's How to Convert Any Format to and from PDF

Hey everyone, Joe here. We've all been there: you have a final PDF but need a major edit, and the original Word or PowerPoint file is nowhere to be found. I want to show you how Acrobat converts PDFs to and from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and images, while keeping your layout, fonts, and images intact. 

What you need: Any Acrobat plan. Converting documents to and from PDF is included starting with Acrobat Standard, confirmed on Adobe's own plan comparison page. 

What you can do: Turn a PDF into an editable Word document in a couple of clicks, or go the other way, like turning a JPEG into a shareable, high-quality PDF. Skip rebuilding from scratch when the original file is long gone. 

Method 1: Convert a PDF to Word. With your PDF open, select Convert from the global bar, choose Microsoft Word, then select Convert to DOCX. 

Method 2: Convert a file to PDF. Select Create from the global bar, choose Create PDF, then choose your file and drag it into the window. 

The same flow works for Excel, PowerPoint, and other formats, just swap the format you select.

Good to know: 

• Best results come from native PDFs; scanned or complex layouts may need a little cleanup afterward 
• Converting Microsoft Office files may require the matching version of Office installed on your computer 
• Password-protected PDFs work too, just enter the password to open the file, then convert as usual
