4K MP4 video export fails after editing a previously working project

Hi,

I’m still having problems with exporting/downloading video projects in Adobe Express. The strange thing is that an old project can still be exported as long as I dont make any changes to it. If I make even a very small change to the old project and then try to export it again, the download failes.

I have tested this on different computers, with the same result. The projects are 4K MP4 video projects.

Are there any workaround recommended?

Hi again,

I have tested the exportfunction again and this time it did work! At least at first.. But then the same problem occured again! I have also tested the same file in another browser, Google Chrome. Same procedure, the export starts for like 5 seconds and stops. The same error message as yesterday shows. I also tested to dublicate and then export again and unfortunately that did not work either.

I have a short screen recording, but it is in swedish.

Translation:

“Download starts..” “0% Completed”

“Download failed. An error occured when the file was loaded. Try again.”

Thank you, this is a really useful report, and good to know you've tried on different computers.

A few details will help me get this to the right team cleanly:

When the export fails, what actually happens, does it error out, hang and never finish, or start and then drop? Any message on screen?
Does it fail on any change at all (even something tiny like nudging one element), or only certain kinds of edits?
Are these projects all 4K MP4, or does it also happen if you export the edited project at a lower resolution (say 1080p) as a test? That one's worth trying, if a lower-res export of the same edited project succeeds, that's a strong clue.
Web app or desktop app, and which browser/OS on the machines you tested?

On a workaround while we chase it: since the unedited version still exports, one stopgap is to duplicate the project first, then make your changes in the copy and export that, sometimes a fresh copy sidesteps whatever state the edit is tripping. Not guaranteed, but worth a shot, and it keeps your original intact either way.

If a screen recording of the edit-then-failed-export is easy to grab, that would help the team a lot.

I receive the error messege after 5-10 seconds, saying that something failed to load. And “try again later”. Nothing more.

Yes, it failed when I did even a very small change.

Yes, there are 4K MP4 projects, but I also tested 1080 (MP4) - It failed.

Both web app and desktop app. Microsoft Edge on both machines.

About the workaround, I¨ve tested to duplicate as described but unfortunately that didnt work either..

This is really thorough, thank you. That rules out resolution, the specific project, and your setup. I'm taking this to the team now with the details you've given.

One quick thing, purely to give them a complete picture, not something you need to keep chasing: both your machines are on Microsoft Edge. If it's easy, does the same edit-then-export fail in a different browser like Chrome or Firefox? Either answer is useful, if it fails there too, that confirms it's not browser-specific.

If you can grab a short screen recording of the change-then-failed-export with that "failed to load" message, that would help the team pin it down faster as well!

I'll update you here as I hear back.
