Have you tried adding a splash from Media?  
With your file open, go down to Media.
In Media there are a number of options: All, Photos, Video, and Audio.

Press Photo and type in Splash were the magnifying glass is:
You will get a number of options to choose from; you can remove the background from the splash and work with the splash around the shoe.
