Adobe Express Android freezes constantly | Android 16

From opening of a project on the app, to nearly every function, the app keeps freezing after 1-2 commands are issued. Express has a long history of issues and unnecessary changes but now it's really just plain unuable like this. Since the update, on Android16 the app will freeze and the only work around I can do is switch ot another app and go back and most of the time it will resume. This way I know it's not my OS, it's the coding of Adobe Express. This app becomes more and more unusable every few months but this is quite the stunning leap. I wish I could go back to the pre-AI slop version of this app but you forced me to this new one that is so non-userfriendly and non-intuitive. It takes 5 steps to do something that just took 1. More bugs than benefits and now I can't even use it. You aren't making it better more than adding more problems. PLEASE give us the old versions back or the abilty to switch to the old UI. I just want to get my work done on my mobile quickly and correctly. It hasn't been that way for 2025. It's BEYOND frustrating.

3. Open any project and watch the fun begin. Every 2-3 functions the app freezes. Stuck loading screens,  unresponsive to inputs, frozen screen, etc.
4. We just expect it to work. it doesn't. it freezes. switching out to other apps and trying again sometimes works. Feels like a memory issue or sloppy code.

This is the same frozen screen I get when I open any project. I'm usually able to switch out to a different app and go back and it lets me get 1 or 2 functions in before it freezes again. Text manipulation is the worst tho.

 

It's insane how broken and unusable it is. I wish I could go back to the non-AI version that did work and had a better UI.

As I said in my initial post. It happens with EVERY project I open. Not only large ones. Or only small ones. Every one. I tried your suggestion to the new 29.1.0 update and I installed and reinstalled the latest webview. It didn't help at all. This last year with Adobe has been the most frustrating clown show I've seen. Just give us back the old versions that worked. That didn't take 5 clicks to do 1 operation. And didn't fail catastrophically on new updates. This is ridiculous

I'm having this issue now. I use it every day for work so it's a big problem. Freezing basically immediately after one or two slow commands. I have a Google pixel 9pro, updated system to 16 and now it won't work.... Ice done everything including uninstalling and reinstalling..

I am experiencing a severe performance issue with the Adobe Express mobile app on my new Google Pixel 9. The problem started after the most recent system update on my phone.
When I enter the editing screen for any project, the app becomes extremely slow and unresponsive. It loads indefinitely, as if the internet connection was very poor, even when my network is stable. I am unable to select any elements on the screen to edit them.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already taken:
  • Restarted my phone.
  • Cleared the cache for the Adobe Express app.
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
The issue persists despite all these attempts. It seems to be related to a compatibility conflict with the latest update on my Pixel 9.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't believe it has been fixed because I am having this same issue this morning.  It has been working great until this morning.  The image pops up with the orange triangle sign letting me know it is loading, but then does nothing but turn the sign red.  I cannot remove backgrounds on stock images at all.  I can on the images saved on my computer, but not images I search for in Adobe Express.
