Adobe Express Android freezes constantly | Android 16

From opening of a project on the app, to nearly every function, the app keeps freezing after 1-2 commands are issued. Express has a long history of issues and unnecessary changes but now it's really just plain unuable like this. Since the update, on Android16 the app will freeze and the only work around I can do is switch ot another app and go back and most of the time it will resume. This way I know it's not my OS, it's the coding of Adobe Express. This app becomes more and more unusable every few months but this is quite the stunning leap. I wish I could go back to the pre-AI slop version of this app but you forced me to this new one that is so non-userfriendly and non-intuitive. It takes 5 steps to do something that just took 1. More bugs than benefits and now I can't even use it. You aren't making it better more than adding more problems. PLEASE give us the old versions back or the abilty to switch to the old UI. I just want to get my work done on my mobile quickly and correctly. It hasn't been that way for 2025. It's BEYOND frustrating.

3. Open any project and watch the fun begin. Every 2-3 functions the app freezes. Stuck loading screens,  unresponsive to inputs, frozen screen, etc.
4. We just expect it to work. it doesn't. it freezes. switching out to other apps and trying again sometimes works. Feels like a memory issue or sloppy code.

Hi, are all the people runnning into this issue on Android 16 beta? This is a beta software and can have bugs, Express does not support Android 16 beta at this time. We are working with Google on resolving this issue ahead of the Android 16 ship.

I'm sending a link to a video with a screen capture of my phone, which shows the problem with the project.

It's not a complicated project; it has several graphic and text layers, each with an audio animation on entry and exit.

The app locks up. It unlocks after pressing the POWER button and unlocking the phone, or after switching to another app, as described by the author of this post.

This is the Polish version of AE.

I have 354GB of free space on my pixel 9. I'm sure, just like the guy above, that the problem is due to the update to Android 16. I have exactly the same build (build: BP3A.250905.014)

 
I deleted the application memory, reinstalled the application, nothing helps

I also have the same problem as described above, I unlock the application for a moment with the POWER button, then I press POWER, it unlocks the phone and goes back to the application, but only for a moment, then it freezes again, everything happened after updating Android to version 16 - I have a Pixel 9 Pro

 

Please help me solve this problem or update quickly!

Hi @albert_5483,

 

We're sorry to hear about this. Please ensure that your device has enough storage space. A lack of storage space can cause apps to crash or freeze on mobile devices, as apps need a certain amount of space to function properly.

 

Try deleting unused apps and let us know if that helps.

We’re very sorry you’re experiencing constant freezing in Adobe Express – that must be extremely frustrating. 😔

To help us investigate, please share whether this issue occurs with all projects or only larger ones, whether a specific action seems to trigger it, and if other apps are running in the background. I've shared the case with our engineering team, and in the meantime, you might try restarting your device, clearing the app cache, or testing with a simpler project to see if performance improves. Screenshots or a short screen recording would really help our engineers reproduce and fix the issue.

Hi community!

Last couple of days I've had issues with the app bugging out trying to remove backgrounds, most of the time the image won't load and if it does the editor will not open. Having the same issue uploading videos.
