Can no longer remove the background from pictures

Since the new version of adobe express launched, I haven't been able to remove the background from images I have imported. When I hover over the remove background button, I get the message "use this feature once this image has processed". The image appears with a warning triangle in the top left corner (attached). Advise greatly appreciated.
