color dropper

Ive tried using the color dropper the past couple of weeks to match font to colors to certain colors in my backgrounds I'm using and it does nothing. I can't match the font color. It's a little frustrating because I pay for premium. Please let me know how this can be fixed. never had a problem before this. thank you
