FigTree font rending issue (line through font visible upon download PNG, JPEG and sometimes PDF)

Hello,

Myself and the team are having issues with the FigTree font in Adobe Express. We use FigTree font labelling conventions, button text and body copy within our brand system and have noticed when such assets like email banners, social media ad’s / cards have been downloaded as PNG, JPEG or sometimes PDF, there is an invisible line that strikes through the content.

I have attached screenshots of the issue to this ticket and here is a link to one of the working files (although there are many that has the same issue), so you can investigate further: https://new.express.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:EU:dd7e9840-13d1-5719-bbdd-6b2543bb5f8e?accept=true&invite=true&promoid=Z2G1FQKR&mv=othe

Hopefully there will be a fix for this!

Many thanks for your help,

Olivia 😊

Hey @Olivia5E6B - wanted to give you the update that this is in the team’s pipeline to investigate! I don’t have a firm timeline, but will keep this thread open and updated as they make progress.

    Thanks for your patience!

    That’s okay :)

Access permissions have been accepted and I have let my team know the bug is being looked into.

    Many thanks,

    Olivia

Hi Olivia, thanks for the detailed report, screenshots, and the project link, that makes it really easy to see exactly what's happening with FigTree rendering that strikethrough line on export.

A couple of quick questions to help narrow this down:

    • Does this happen with FigTree at every weight/style (regular, bold, etc.), or specific ones?
    • Which browser and device are you using?
    • Does the line appear in the in-editor preview too, or only after downloading?
    • Could you make the link edit access for “anyone” and send it to me via DM? (so we can keep it off the public form - I also recommend making a copy of the file, just in case!)

I'm passing this along to our team with the project link you shared. I don't have a timeline yet, but I'll follow up here once I have more information.

    Hey Rose,

Thanks for coming back so quickly!

Here are my answers to your questions:

    1. Specific styles - Regular and Bold (which are the two main weights we use in the brand)
    2. Chrome browser and also the Adobe Expess App Desktop version
    3. Looks perfect in editor, but not downloaded as an asset
    4. Please can I have your direct email, so I can ping you the link to the working file?
    5. Copy of the file made called “font bug test”

I have attached the screenshots of what happens in browser and app, tested at different sizes and using one word verses 3 words.

    Many thanks,

    Olivia :)

Hey Olivia — this is exactly what I needed, thank you for being so thorough (and for making the copy!).

So to confirm I've got it: the strikethrough shows on Regular and Bold, in both Chrome and the Express desktop app, and only on the downloaded file, never in the editor itself. That editor-vs-export split is the useful bit; it points to something happening at export/render rather than in the design. I'm getting it in front of the team.

For the file: no need to email, you can send it straight to me here. Just set your "font bug test" copy so I pass it along to the engineering team (I’m not an engineer, so I don’t need specific access, they do!):

→ Open the font bug test copy and click Share (top-right)
→ Next to Copy link, click the settings gear
→ Under "Who has access," open the dropdown and choose Anyone with the link
→ Set "Link recipients act as" to Editor (you'll see it confirm "Anyone with the link can edit, download and share")
    → Click Copy link

Then drop it to me in a DM here and I'll pick it up from there.

I'll follow up on this thread as soon as I hear back.

    Rose
