Having to highlight text

When the text box is in use, you now have to then highlight the text (double or tripple or intensely clicking on it... haven't figured out what actually works here either) THEN the text, color, shape etc will change... but not before!

Is you text object grouped or overlaid with other objects?

 

In general, I don't find myself having to highlight the text as you describe. Here's what works for me:

 

- With the entire text object selected, I can change the color/font/font size/shape etc. for all of the text

- With a double click or two single clicks, I can enter text edit mode, wherein I can type, as well as select ranges of text to change color/font/font size of.

 

If you you are experiencing something different, a screen recording would help.
