Images linked from Assets and Brands not displaying in video editor

Hello, 

 

This is my first time posting here, I can usually sort these things out on my own but this one is stumping me.

 

I have a video project in Express and am running into a consistent issue with relinking images placed in a scene. A fellow employee also working on this project is also having this issue, so it isn't relegated just to me. Here is what happens:

  • I place an image in my video scene - specifically a PNG logo
  • Relinking the logo causes it to disappear
  • Image is present in the layers, so Express seems to know it is there, but it is not visible on the canvas and is not selectable
  • Relinking the logo via Libraries, Brands, or from my machine all present this same issue
  • Issue is localized to this one scene, other scenes work as intended

 

I am on a MacBook Pro 2019, running OS Ventura 13.7.1. I have attached a screenshot for reference but have blurred the logo for privacy.

Thanks for your continued help. See my responses below.

 

- Are you relinking the library asset because it showed as having a broken link?

No, the idea is this would be a repurposeable template where we could swap out different logos depending on what brand is needed.
- What app did you create the library asset in, and where are you doing the relinking?
All library assets were created in Adobe Illustrator and saved as PNGs or PDFs. Assets were uploaded from my computer files to Express > Libraries. Also tried Brands in Express, same result.
- Are you able to place the relinked asset and have it appear correctly outside of Express?

Yes, these same assets are used/linked in other Adobe software across lots of media - Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign for use in web, print, and other video projects.
- I'd like to try to recreate the issue myself so might need more details about the workflow

Please let me know how best to proceed. We do have video capture software, if it would be easier to send a video of my process.

Thanks for your reply and your assistance. My answers to your questions are below.

- Does creating a duplicate of the file make any difference? Does it issue appear in the duplicate instance?

No, it does not make a difference. The issue is present on any duplicates I or other team members make.
- Does clearing the browser cache and restarting the computer make any difference? https://adobe.ly/41vPua4

Clearing the browser cache did not make a difference, the issue is still present after several attempts.

- If you download the video is the logo visible in the problem scene?

No, I just tried this and the logo does not appear in the downloaded video.

Thank you for testing those things. I was also wanting to understand the relinking aspect better.

A few more questions:
- Are you relinking the library asset because it showed as having a broken link?

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. A few other things I was curious about and that might be worth testing:

- Does creating a duplicate of the file make any difference? Does the issue appear in the duplicate instance?

- If you download the video is the logo visible in the problem scene?

I'm wondering if the issue is somehow resource-related.
