Importing Ai files with clipping masks

My illustrator file has a clipping mask of a cut out circle with a photo behind it. When I upload this into Adobe Express the cut out circle and photo are blended into one, which means that I cannot replace the photo anymore. Being able to replace the photo is important when creating templates for clients. Thank you.
