Well, I Signed out and then back in. Deleted the app and reinstalled. Tried my phone. Nothing works and it’s getting to the point of where I wanna chuck my devices out the window 😂

I know @Amitej S is gonna ask so….. 😂

  • Your device make and model- IPad Pro and the model is MDWK4LL/A
  • Your OS version- 26.6
  • Your Adobe Express app version, or your browser and browser version if you're using the web app. Mobile app version 30.7.0
  • Whether you're connected to a home or workplace network- Home
  • Whether you're using a VPN or have an active firewall- Nope
  • A screen recording showing the error, if possible- attached

I know I’m still having issues with background removal tool on iOS and everything has been updated. Just tried again a few minutes ago.

    Hi @Wayne K,

Appreciate you confirming, and sorry for the frustration.

Straight answer: the outage that was affecting this is resolved, so there isn't a broken piece still being fixed here. Background removal can be a finicky tool, and it doesn't hit every image equally - it does best with a clear subject that stands out from the background, and struggles more with busy backgrounds, low contrast, soft edges (hair, fur), or a subject that blends into what's behind it.

So if it's failing on specific images, a couple of things can help:

    • Try one with a clean, high-contrast subject to confirm the tool's working at all on your end

    • For a tricky image, cropping tighter to the subject before removing, or picking a shot with more separation, often gets a better result

If it's failing even on clean, obvious-subject images, or if you're getting an error code, please let me know! That's something I can bring back to the team - tell me what you're feeding it and I'll take a closer look. But if it's the harder shots, this is more about working with the tool's limits than a bug waiting on a fix.

I’ve been getting the same message for about a week now and wonder if it will ever be fixed or do they even know about it.

    @multitalented_Glimmer29d6

Haha! Please step away from the window, your devices are innocent here. 😂

And thank you for the wonderfully written bug report (@Amitej S will be proud).

Short version: The team is already aware of an issue affecting background removal recently, and iOS is the most affected, as seen by newer reports like yours! This matches with what we’ve been hearing recently.

I don't have a firm timeline to give you yet, but I've linked your report in with what the team's tracking, and I'll come back to this thread as soon as I have an update.

One thing that would help in the meantime: if you happen to notice it working on some images but not others, a quick note on what those images had in them (a clear single subject vs. a busier or lower-contrast shot) is useful info for me to pass along.

Hang tight - and sorry for the runaround before you got here.

What images do you want me to try, willing to help however I can.

If you have any images in particular you want me to try, let me know and I’ll take a screen video again so you guys can see what if anything happens
