Layers and Media Locked and can't be unlocked

Hello, I am trying to edit my Adobe Express content and I all my layers and media are locked and nothing happens when I click the unlock icon. I am using macOS 13.5.2 and Safari

    Hi @giulia_1355, Welcome to our Adobe Express community!

    This shouldn't be happening. Can you please confirm if it happens with all the projects/templates you work on or just one specific one? Was this template shared with you by someone, or did you start working from scratch on your Adobe Express editor? 

     

    Could you share a screen recording of the workflow so that we can understand and investigate this? 

    We'd need more information on this to get you out of it. Please share your observations!

    I am having the same issue. How is this an issue in 2025. The Adobe expres UI is the most miserable experience imaginable

      Same issue  - Chrome and Safari...refreshed etc nothing unlocking..

      To clarify, I never said I had a problem with the icon not responding. It was finding the icon in the first place.

      Just here to say that is the most unintuitive thing I've seen in awhile. I shouldn't have had to Google how to unlock a layer!

        Thanks for your feedback — and sorry for the frustration this has caused!

        You're right, editing should feel intuitive, and we're actively working to improve that experience.

        If clicking the unlock icon doesn’t respond, here are a few things to try:

        1. Switch to Chrome or another browser temporarily — some Safari versions may have compatibility quirks.

        2. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.

        3. If the issue persists, open the project in a new tab or reimport the asset if possible.

        In the top left hand corner of the video (in the actual video preview, not the thumbnail of the layer) there will be a little grey lock icon, press that and it will unlock. Not very intuitive, but there you go...
