PDF Export Does Not Include Recently Updated Template Text on First Export
Product: Adobe Express
Issue Type: PDF Export / Document Generation Bug
Frequency: Intermittent, but repeatable enough to affect workflow
Export Format Affected: PDF
Other Formats Tested: Not yet tested
Summary
We use Adobe Express templates to create project-specific documents. The template includes placeholder numbers and information that we manually replace with the correct project details before exporting.
The issue occurs when exporting the document as a PDF for the first time after making edits. The downloaded PDF does not always include the newly updated information. Instead, it appears to retain or omit some of the replaced placeholder content, even though the document itself in Adobe Express shows the correct updated information.
Interestingly, other edits, such as deleting unused slides/pages, usually do appear correctly in the exported PDF. The issue seems specifically related to the updated text or project information not being carried into the first PDF export.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open an existing Adobe Express template.
- Replace placeholder numbers, text, and project information with new project-specific details.
- Delete any unused pages/slides if needed.
- Export/download the document as a PDF.
- Open the downloaded PDF.
- Notice that all of the newly updated information is missing or not reflected.
- Return to Adobe Express and refresh the page.
- The document still shows the correct updated information.
- Export the document as a PDF again.
- The second exported PDF usually includes the correct updated information.
Expected Result
The first PDF export should accurately reflect all current text, numbers, project details, and layout changes shown in the Adobe Express document at the time of export.
Actual Result
The first PDF export does not always include the updated text or project-specific information. However, other structural changes, such as deleted slides/pages, are often reflected correctly. Exporting the PDF a second time usually resolves the issue.
Impact
This creates a risk of sending incorrect or incomplete project documents to clients or internal team members. It also requires us to manually review and often export the same document twice to ensure the PDF is accurate, which slows down the workflow and reduces confidence in the export process.
Additional Notes
The Adobe Express document itself appears to retain the correct information. Refreshing the page shows that the edits are still present, so the issue does not seem to be with saving the document. It appears to happen during the first PDF export process, as if Adobe Express is exporting an outdated or cached version of the document.
We have primarily noticed this issue with PDF exports and have not fully tested whether the same behavior occurs with other export formats.
