Pulling my illustrator files in wonky

I'm experiencing some issues with importing Illustrator files too. For example, a checkerboard graphic is not imported as squares, and sometimes the whole image won't retain its proportions. In addition, Express is only importing a single layer from an Illustrator file, instead of all the layers. This is not very useful. It was working fine as advertised two weeks ago, but not anymore. I have already reinstalled Illustrator, which seems to be a frequent occurrence these days. I'm using Safari on an Apple M3 Max.
