The side tab will reappear when a shape is clicked despite clicking the X and the focus will remove to the centre. This makes editing in small scale on the sides extremely difficult.

It shouldn't happen.

 

Can you share a screenshot that shows the error? Were you editing a video or an image? 

 

Here are some workaround that might help:
• Test in incognito or privacy mode. Here are instructions for Chrome
• Clear the cache/cookies from the browser 
• Edit from a different browser such as Safari or Microsoft Edge
 
We recommend closing the previously opened pages before trying those steps.
