Slate/Spark Page webpages converting without images

I was an early user of Adobe Slate, carrying on through the rebrand to Spark Page and subsequently Express in the present day.

Many of my webpages from 2014-2016 now are 404s at their original URLs, but I believe all the content is still in my account when I login to Express and look at “My Stuff” > “Files”.

When I click on one of the older webpages for the first time, I get a dialog telling me the item is being converted and the original will be found in a folder called [Originals]. But:

  • I can’t see the [Originals] folder anywhere; online chat told me it should be a system folder at the bottom of my files list, but it’s just not there
  • almost every time an item is converted, the text and general layout is fine but ALL the photos disappear. and these are image heavy pages

They were all created on an iPad I no longer have (over 10 years ago; things from 2017 onwards seem mostly OK). I don’t know which photos I used in the pages and at what position. I’d just like them to be recovered as part of the conversion process, which clearly went wrong. Failing that, I would dearly love to just be able to export the originals at least.

it would mean a lot to me to get these pages back in their original state, despite the URL changes which I can live with. How can I do that?

    Hey @wise_joyf51a,

This is a really understandable frustration -- these are pages you made years ago that clearly meant something to you, and the conversion process should not be dropping your images.

A couple of things happening here that are worth separating out:

The [Originals] folder not appearing is something support can look into directly with your account -- it should be there, and if it's not showing that's worth investigating. That's your best starting point: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen

The image loss during conversion from very early Slate pages (2014-2016) is harder to answer honestly -- those assets were stored on infrastructure that's changed significantly over 10+ years, and I can't promise recovery is possible. But I don't want to close the door on that without support actually checking. When you contact them, ask specifically about the Slate-era image assets and whether they're recoverable.

I'm sorry I don't have a cleaner answer than "contact support" for something you clearly care about, but this needs someone with account access to investigate properly.

Hi @Rose DV , thanks for your response. I actually went through support first, two different levels, including granting access to one of the pages exhibiting the problem to the support agent. They were the ones who directed me to the community forums, claiming they had exhausted everything they were able to do themselves.

Good to know - let me see what I can do then and try to escalate this a different way - thank you @wise_joyf51a
