Spellcheck for UK English in Express

I work in a corporate business that uses UK English, not US English.

Therefore, it is preferred that the option to spellcheck for UK English is available for users of Adobe Express.

Hello @Dragos37878852hyou,

Thank you for your extra reply - I'm very happy to assist in the further development of Adobe's user experience.

I've tried to follow your suggestion and have added English UK to my browser languages. In my Adobe account settings on Express, it only stated my subscription account origin and provided no way of changing anything about my preferred languages. I did, however, find the option under my general Adobe Account settings and have updated it to contain Danish and English UK.

Thank you very much for your help 🙂

@Maja326555487e0g thanks for the reply. We are assessing the possibility of having an explicit language setting for spellchecker and feedback like yours helps us a lot.

There are a couple of options more that you can try. You can keep your preferred format language in Express settings (e.g. DK) and instead add EN-UK as your preferred language in your Adobe Profile settings(see pic) or in your browser settings(for Chrome: settings->Languages->Preferred Languages).
If one of those is set to EN-UK
we will use UK English instead of US English.

Hello @Dragos37878852hyou ,

Thank you for your reply and proposed solution. As this setting affects local settings, I would like to know to what extent and which features the change would affect.

Since I'm located in Denmark, I would like to keep my local time and other formatting - I don't know the full extent of a change to UK formatting would result in. I do, however, design materials using English 95% of the time, so if switching the local formatting doesn't change too many aspects, it could work. Though, it wouldn't be user-friendly if I had to keep switching between local and UK formatting.

Due to this fact and others, I'm not sure that changing this setting is necessarily the right solution for me or others who wish to keep local formatting but need spellcheck in other languages, or simply are designing materials with different languages more often than I do.

@chaimaa.7, is the variation from US English to UK English something that could be considered to be added to Express?

If the option to change language for spellchecking is buried so deep in account settings, it also raises a potential UX issue. Changing spellcheck language is too hard to find and confusing since it's in the account settings.

Hey @Maja326555487e0g. Currently, Adobe Express supports spell checking for a select group of languages. I previously mentioned support for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, but after checking with the product team, I would like to clarify that CJK languages are not currently supported for spell checking in Express. That said, we’re always looking to improve and expand. If there’s a specific language you’d love to see added, we’d really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks,
Chaimaa

We do support English UK. If you have in your Adobe profile that language set as preffered language or if you set the format language in Express settings to English UK(see photo) then the spellchecker should use UK English. LMK if that does not work!

Hi Tarun,

Thanks for seeing and replying to my post. I've upvoted and commented on the post.

I have a question in regards to the selected languages for spellchecking: is it a choice that it doesn't include all or mostly used languages and only variation to a few (I saw Chinese had two)?

Hey @Maja326555487e0g! Great question, and I totally get where you're coming from.

Right now, Adobe Express supports spellcheck for a select group of languages, including some regional variations like Simplified and Traditional Chinese. We are starting with the most commonly used ones and making sure everything works smoothly across devices.

That said, we’re always looking to improve and expand. If there’s a specific language you’d love to see added, we’d really appreciate the feedback, it helps us know what to prioritize next.

Let me know if you’d like me to pass your suggestion along to the product team!

Thanks,

Chaimaa
