Text Disappearing in Adobe Express Template

Hi all,

I've created a new template in adobe express today, and a couple of hours later my text is invisible.

It comes back if I change the font, however this is time consuming.

How can I fix it?

The issue for me was Chrome.

I switched to Edge for this project and it worked fine, no problems at all. I'd try that before abandoning ship.

Please post screen shots of the entire program when the text disappears.   Try not to take pictures of your screen with your phone- they are generally out of focus, and rarely cover the entire screen.

Unstack / ungroup any layers on the right.

Hi there, I have the same problem - either grouped or ungrouped the text disappears. There is no opacity issue and I tried to change the font but it didn't fix the problem. I might have to switch to Canva because I cannot finalise my video on Adobe Express platform due to that..

Hi @Mystical_Brilliance9241 ,

To help our engineering team investigate, could you send me your project link with edit access enabled via direct message?

To send a DM:

  1. Click on my profile name or picture.

  2. Select “Message” to open a private chat.

  3. Paste the project link there.

This will keep your content private and secure. We’ll only use it to troubleshoot the PDF misalignment issue.

Appreciate your help!

- Browser is Chrome Version 136.0.7103.114 (Official Build) (64-bit)

- I've tried logging out and in which does not solve the issue.

- Trying it in incognito in the same version of Chrome does not work.

- I have logged in to Edge and it loads everything in there. This is Edge Version 136.0.3240.92 (Official build) (64-bit).

- In my project I use at least 8 different fonts and it's consitently not showing any of them. It doesn't appear to depend on the font as I did wonder if it was to do with open type fonts and licensed fonts, but it doesn't look like it discriminates between any types etc.

- Regarding this [It’s super helpful that you mentioned Ctrl + F5 helped temporarily — this could indeed point to a caching issue on the server or browser level, and we’ll escalate this to the team with your input.] This was not repeatable after the first time, so may have been a red herring.

Other odd bits of behaviour that i've encountered that seem to be related:

- it has consistently downloaded the PDF version correctly until the last time I tried and at this point it missed out both images and text from the PDF download. During this final download it missed out text, images and backgrounds of text elements.

- When I tried to download as PNG (Best for images) option this didn't output the text and was the same as the online version.

I'm having the same issue, with both grouped and ungrouped text with multiple different fonts and sizes.

I'm on a trial for this product and it's not inspiring me with confidence that the product is reliable enough to guarantee that it won't do this when i have a client waiting for proofs.

The issue did seem to resolve itself by pressing Ctrl + F5 many times in quick succession, seems like it might be something that gets cached, but then i tried duplicating the file and it persisted, so must be a server cache if that's the case.

Hi @Mystical_Brilliance9241,

Thanks so much for sharing the details — and you're absolutely right to expect a reliable experience, especially when working on client deadlines. We’re sorry this happened and appreciate you sticking with it during your trial.

To help us pinpoint the issue more accurately, could you please let us know:

  • Which browser and OS are you using?

  • Does the issue still happen after logging out and back in again?

  • Do you see the same behavior if you open the project in incognito/private mode?

  • Are there specific fonts or templates where this happens more often?

It’s super helpful that you mentioned Ctrl + F5 helped temporarily — this could indeed point to a caching issue on the server or browser level, and we’ll escalate this to the team with your input.

Let us know what you find — we're here to help get this working smoothly for you!

Hi @Amitej S

I want to be clear that this was not a settings issue, this was a bug. Let me add a few more details on the matter.

I had three text layers, each one grouped with an object layer underneath them (so three groups, each with a text layer on top and an object layer on bottom). These three text layers were set to be the three front-most layers in the project. The opacity was also at 100% for all three text layers, and yet, none of the text was visible.

When I ungrouped one of the text-object groups, suddenly all three text layers were visible. The other two groups were still grouped. None of the layer positions were changed.

Hi @carsell1

I tried to recreate the issue myself but wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Would it be possible to share your project file with us?

Thanks,
Dave

Update: I had the text grouped with some layers below it. When I ungrouped the layers, the text appeared.

Hey @carsell1, Thanks for providing the clarity. As mentioned by @Glenn 8675309, text layers can disappear if they get grouped with layers that are in front of the text layer. Try changing the layer positions to get the view of text on project or the layer side rail.

It looks like this was never resolved. I'm having this issue as well except changing the font does not bring the text back. The layer menu clearly shows text, the text layer is positioned in the very front, the opacity is 100% and yet, the text is not visible, and when I try to click on the text box to write different text, I end up selecting the layer underneath.

Hey @spencer_1647, Welcome to our community!! Thanks for posting here!

Could you share the name of the font that keeps disappearing? Have you tried switching to a different font to check if it disappears too? Also, check the text opacity settings.

Let us know how it goes!
