Transparent images previously uploaded to Express webpages are now showing up with white backgrounds.

Yes, this one's a known bug and still open on our side. Quick background in case it helps, since you mentioned it not making sense: an image optimization change started converting published images to JPEG to save file size, and JPEG can't hold transparency, so PNGs that look fine in the editor flatten to white once the page is published. The safemode parameter skips that optimization step, which is why it works at all.

You've found the real limit of that workaround though. safemode lives in the URL as a query parameter, so anything that forwards to the page (an html meta-refresh or a php header redirect) tends to drop or truncate it, and once it's gone the image flattens again.

On a real fix: no firm ETA yet, but it's flagged and with the team. I'm passing along your note about safemode getting cut off in forwarding, since it shows the plain workaround isn't enough for actual use.

Thank you for your patience - the issue is still on our radar and has been shared with the engineering team.

In the meantime, the workaround that's been helping others in this thread is to add ?safeMode=true to the end of your published webpage URL.

For example: https://new.express.adobe.com/webpage/[your-page-id]?safeMode=true

Several users have confirmed this displays the page correctly. It's not a permanent fix, but hopefully it keeps things functional while we work toward a proper resolution.
