Working anchor links not populating anymore

I've been working on this for weeks. I republished this morning and now all of the anchor links seem to not be generating. Issue 32 - Digital Quality Update

I had a table of contents that linked to the anchor links and used them several times. Now when I publish and view, the anchor links seem to have disappeared and I can't seem to get them back. Have tried removing the Heading formatting, publishing, and then re-adding the formatting and publishing again but still no luck.

Nope, nothing changed. Later that night, I reloaded the live link and links were there. I didn't want to say they were working without doing some more testing so I made incremental changes publishing in between each and rechecking the live version, eventually adding the links back into the table of contents. I made sure to check from a Mac and PC. I should mention, when it broke, it broke on all web pages created with anchor links, i.e. hovering over a header text did not populate an option to "copy anchor link". They are now functioning in old documents as well.

This issue looks to have resolved sometime last night. Any information for things that could have affected this would be appreciated. The anchor links are now being generated and I was able to relink them.

Hi @AsphyxiAsian

I'm not sure what happened but glad to hear it is working now. Did you have to do anything to fix it or did the issue go away on it's own?

Thanks,
Dave

Ugh. Can't edit typos. *not created

so tldr: I had links in place this morning but when the anchors disappeared, the links broke, so I removed the TOC links until the functionality is restored where anchors (headings) go back to having a link.

It's not. I removed the links this morning because they weren't working I.e. clicking them did not go to the anchor links because anchor links were no created. I sent this out to my audience this morning and immediately responses were, "the TOC links are broken". If you look at the live view, are you able to grab an anchor link? Because none of my documents have anchor links at the headers anymore. They literally did last night.

Adding details:

  • I tried creating a new document, same result, no anchor links generated.
  • I went to previous pages containing anchor links that used to work, also no anchor link generated. e.g. when you hover over a header, the link pop up is not longer there.
  • Also tried other browser types, Edge, Chrome, Safari
  • Tried Incognito mode/private mode to view and create
  • Additionally, unsure I ever noticed before but the edit link says at the end "category=photos". Again, never scrutinized the edit URL but I'd assume it's supposed to say webpage because that's what it says when you look through templates. I tried to type that manually and it reverts to photos.

Hi @AsphyxiAsian

Sorry to hear about your difficulties.  I wondered if the issue might be related to viewing the two different instances of the file
- Editor view of the file in Express
- Live published view

If I go to the Live published view at https://adobe.ly/41nijVW and scroll down to the Top Stories section and hover over it I do get the link for the Top Stories section at https://adobe.ly/4b61h1K

If you switch back to the Editor view of the file in Express and go to the TOC and highlight the Top Stories text can you set a link?

Thanks,

Dave
