Why was tesselation factor removed?

I haven't used Designer in a little while (busy at work), but I booted it up yesterday, only to see that Tessellation Factor is now gone. And the base high-res plane has nowhere near enough geo to be of any use without tessellation.

Why on earth was this removed?  I know I could make a super dense plane in Max etc, but I really shouldn't need to. I see parallax occlusion mapping is also now gone. Again, why?

This makes no sense.

Hello @Guerratoons @mendo_shutaro,

The tessellation factor parameter was indeed moved yet again in our 16.0.0 release. I understand this is confusing, but the good news is that it is now much more convenient to access!

In the Designer 16.0 release, we have introduced the Displacement pop-up in the 3D View toolbar. Go to the linked documentation page to learn all about it. I hope you will find this solution more convenient and worth the change.

This page lists all the changes introduced in Designer 16.0.

Regarding parallax occlusion, this technique is only available when using the OpenGL renderer.

Best regards,

Luca

Hello,

The tesselation slider has been moved in the renderer settings, it's still there don't worry.

Cheers,
