Substance 3D Designer

Running into workflow blocking issues with Designer Baker UI. SImilar issues were previously present in Painter, but have been fixed.When relative to bounding box is unchecked, parameters which should be set to physical scene units (cm) and be well above 1 or 100 cannot be set. The UI prevents the user from supplying WS values.Ambient Occlusion, Curvature, and Thickness may be affected. I’ve only tested AO  

As my graphs are getting more "spaghetti-like," I’m really struggling to keep the wires organized.I know we have the "All Rectangular Links" option in the settings, but honestly, it’s a bit too much for me.Is there any way (maybe a hidden setting or a plugin) to get "Partially Rectangular Links"?What I want is a hybrid style: keeping the smooth splines for the most part, but having the ability to "snap" certain sections or specific node connections into rectangular angles. I want that clean look without the rigidness of the "All" mode.

Hi there,I didn’t open it since 1 month, but impossible to launch Substance Designer now,  which crashes just after launch opening a report log window. I’m on a Mac M2 Sequoia15.7.3. I though it was maybe du to the last update then I uninstalled Designer, delete preferences, and installed an older versions but, surprise, it doesn’t work neither… I can't understand what's going on, if you have any idea ;-)JA

It seems that using document channels in filters are broken - they are not picked up and the default value on the node is used instead.Here I have started with the ‘Specific filter’ template and use the roughness channel as a mask for a blend:In painter: roughness channelApplying the filter:basecolor is NOT affectedusing another texture as maskUsing another texture works fine: I was trying to use the user channels and not roughness but then I noticed that not even the default channels seem to work.If this is a user error, please let me know! Hi, I am trying to get up and running with Substance Designer, and I notice the default renderer has been updated since I last used the software. I am working in a fresh scene, and trying to visualize my height/displacement in isolation. My renderer is set to the GPU Pathtracer, and I have increased my tessellation values on a Sphere 2 tiles. However, rolling the lights in the 3d viewport just removes any visibility of the displacement, and I can really only see it in the shadows. I have attached a screenshot for your viewing.Is this a bug or user error on my part? Lastly, is there a way to isolate a node in the 3d view so I can see each change one at a time? I was looking at documentation and apparently 1 or 2 on the keyboard is supposed to do this, but in my case it just toggles the link creation mode.Thanks. 

I’m baking out textures from a source mesh to a target mesh using the Transferred Texture baker. One of my source textures is RGBA. But when I bake out the texture output is RGB. How can I bake out RGBA? Do I need to link the source texture to an alpha map in the source material? If so, this is quite tedious since I use alpha in both the Diffuse and Roughness maps. 

I am trying to  update  my workflow in Designer by sending images  for final composition, crop, export  and archiving to be done  in Photoshop.    So I need  the files be looking same in Photoshop.    I want to keep 16bit integer format at least  and want a quick one to update and save inside PHs smart objects.      I Did it with pngs before   but they slow as hell in PHs .Tiff looks much quicker   but I seems couldn't get rid of  extra gamma correction  in PHs.     Is there a way to export tifs as is without  any profile attached?  The way PSH would  use default srgb profile without asking anything or recalculating colors ?     For some  reason I thoght RAW is the way but looks like it doesn't .

Hello,The new Color.Raytraced baker does not render the correct material colorsIt worked correctly in v14 but chooses random colors in v15.   Additionally, Color.Raytraced does not function correctly through the SAT.  If left to the default, or set to mesh_color through the --color_source flag, it renders a black image.  Example command: <path_to_baker>/substance3d_baker.exe Color.Raytraced --inputs <path_to_low>\low3.fbx --output_path <out_path>\ --high_scene_paths <path_to_high>\new_colors7.fbx --output_size 1024,1024 --output_name ID_Test --padding_radius 10 --projection.max_height .5 --projection.max_depth .5 --color_source mesh_color Assigning vertex colors to the high poly fbx and changing the color_source flag to vertex renders out the vertex colors correctly.  I have tested most of the other bakers through the SAT with no issue after updating the new flags, but mesh_colors seems broken both in Designer and through

Installed Substance Designer Painter, Stager   Stager runs fine,   Designer, Painter keep generating error 205 messages. Have installed , uninstalled, rebooted, logged in to ACC, logged out. No Joy. I am signed into my ACC subscription. I have signed out. I have signed in, have signed out. It appears that Substance app is not finding my subscription. I cannot even sign in our out from the app. I keep getting the error code 205 popup. Selecting the contact support brings up a 404 page error. I have disabled my Anti-virus many times I have tried different browsers. Anyone?   Anyone?  Bueller???    

While works fine in 2023 Steam version and also works just fine  in Adobe subscription  version ? I love my Steam 2025  version because I have all my favorites, custom tools  and project settings there .      I had w10 extended security update  before I  first  noticed that 2025 Steam  15.0.3 version  issue  :right click menu shows something , but next left click to confirm do nothing at all.  My guess Microsoft  update might be  a culprit   since I saw no Designer updates  recently .  I would be appreciative  for any advice .

Thanks to your reports, we've established a conflict between Discord's Game Overlay and Substance applications.   We're currently looking for solutions, but in the meantime, if you're facing functionality issues with Designer/Painter buttons, please disable Discord's Overlay.  

tried different setups, Sbsrenderer can only render up to 8192x8192 resolution, which is quite not enogh. Please help.

So not all of the UI responds to mouse actions in Substance 3D Designer 14.1.2 Steam Version. A few days ago everything was working just fine. I’ve noticed that all commands execute normally when launched via keyboard.

Hi everyone,I’m new to Substance Designer and I’ve run into a problem I can’t figure out. No matter how many times I create a new graph and select the Metallic-Roughness preset, I cannot find the option to choose Translucent + Displacement (or any PBR shader) in the 3D View.The only material available is AdobeStandardMaterial, and it’s always marked as “default (overridden)”. I don’t see any way to load other shaders.I’ve searched for solutions, but most tutorials show that by choosing the Metallic-Roughness preset, the PBR shader options should appear automatically. In my case, they don’t.Has anyone else had this issue, or knows why this is happening?It’s really frustrating and I’d appreciate any advice.Thanks in advance!

Hi, Apologies if this is an obvious or dumb question - I'm a but new to this and the learning curve is proving steep!  I have been using the mutliangle_to_normal function in 3D Designer to take a set of images recorded using illumination form 4 equally spaced directions - lets say N, E, S and W - to create a normal map of my object and from that create a height map.  It works really well and give some amazing results. But.... I now have a sample where I can't use the 4-equally spaced points, the lamps have to be placed at irregular, but well-defined, known points.  Can I change the input angles into the function and if so how do I do that?Thanks in advance, and agin aplogies if this is too easy a question. 

Hello all,I'm creating a Substance Designer filter that turns an image input into an oil paint effect. I made custom brush stroke alphas and used Shape Splatter node to scatter them around.The problem:Shape splatter tiles by default, so some brush strokes are leaking through the borders which can be seen in the images. I don't want any tiling effects to happen at all since I will also use this shader to paints on baked Unity lightmaps.Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I recently got Substance Designer from Steam, but when I try to launch it, it opens the title screen and then closes. I've clicked Verify File Integrity and reinstalled it multiple times, but it hasn't resolved the issue. I've also checked the minimum system requirements, and I meet them.  So I'm not sure why it's not opening or what can be causing it.  I got it because the remote computers my school provides are very laggy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

After updating my old substance designer to the newest version 15.0.3 Substance designer is unable to launch. When I do so it stays stuck on the splash screen. I have tried multiple solutions but it does not seem to work. The solutions I have tried:uninstalling and reinstalling the app (version 15.0.3 and version 15.0.0)launching the app as adminupdating my Nvidia drivers to version 581.57Changing my graphics processor to high-performance in the Nvidia control panelDisabling my Nvidia GPU (seemed to work, at first, as it opened the software and my graph but crashed a few seconds after opening) My specs:Laptop model: Acer Nitro AN517-41Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics (16CPU)Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64-bit version 25H216GB RAMDirectX 12Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050  I have found multiple threads with the same issue however I still haven't found a way to solve this problem.
